So has anyone got any opinions on this. Haven't decided whether to get it or not yet as I wasn't too fussed with the demo so anyone who has played it your views would be greeted with open arms.

Re: Lost Planet: Reviews

I wasn't fussed with the demo either, however, the wife went away for the weekend and I got extremely bored this afternoon. Took a trip down to my local gamestation, exchanged some games, and got myself a copy as there wasn't anything else I fancied.

I am loving this game. It's a real old school shooter with amazing boss battles, where you need to work out the attack pattern on how to beat them. The energy drain forces you to keep in the action and to be constantly on the move. The use of the VS (Mechs) really adds some oomph to the gameplay and keeps things varied.

The graphics are beautiful too. The explosions are great the rocket smoke trials are amazing.

I haven't played multiplayer yet but will give it a go later.

It's one of those games you just can't put down. I'm actually enjoying it as much as GOW.

It was definitely worth trading in GRAW and COD2 for it.

9/10 from me.

Re: Lost Planet: Reviews

Agree as above. The supposed awkward control system seems to be most reviews sticking point, and I just don't have a problem with it.

It's like playing Starship Troopers in snow. It's fantastic.

Plus, only GoW is better looking and even then it's tight to call it either way.

Re: Lost Planet: Reviews

So far, out of my brief plays, single play seems good but repititive. Multiplayer seems very good, with good mixture of on foot, mechs and bikes.

Yes, think I'll be doing the same - I'm sure I read on here somewhere today that they are doing the LE version for 39.99

Re: Lost Planet: Reviews

In work today i only saw the standard version for £37.97, i got the game myself thursday but only got to play it tonight and i have to say i cant make my mind up on it.

the initial story is very weak and left me confused even with the first battle with green eye as even though i had played the demo i forgot i was on a time limit all the time as such.

On the plus side as others have said the graphics are beautiful, and the multiplayer seems to have been massively tweaked from the demo.

Howver, take all this with a pich of salt, as im 22 now and no game seems to hold my attention, iv even got GOW up for sale as although i thought it was gold at first now it bores me... Strange, over a decade of gaming and im getting bored... Roll on Mass Effect!

I've added a poll now. A 10 should only be given for a landmark game that sets new rules, a 9 for a truly excellent game without flaw, and an average game that does things right but nothing special should get a 5 (not a 7 or 8 like some would have you believe).

Please feel free to post a review here for comment, and please only vote if you've played enough of the game to judge.

Re: Lost Planet: User Reviews

I really enjoyed the single player demo when it came out and was really looking forward to the release of this game. Now I have the full version have I changed my mind......... NO not at all, I think the game is exellent.

I'm only part way through the 2nd mission but I'm liking it more and more as I play through. Haven't touched online yet as I like to complete single player before I venture online.

Anyway, defintely an 8 out of 10 for me

Re: Lost Planet: User Reviews

hi all

i really like the game, some websites gave it quite good reviews and i can agree with the few fustrations they have ie when getting blasted at by the enemy you cannot get to your feet in time, before you get knocked to your feet again!. apart from that i like it.

not a fan of the mech bit, but now they are more solid ie the sound they make when walking and the variety with the removing of weapons from them and putting on another mech.

graphics are ace, not as good as gears - but good. does deserve a better mark thank 8.1 from gs.

pool mark 7

Re: Lost Planet: User Reviews

I think its very good. Yeah its not original and it has suffered with gears coming out out a few weeks ago. But I think that it is a good old fashioned shooter - no tactical this and that, just point and shoot. It also possess some good end of level bosses that provide quite a challange. Unfortunately it does not help that the "story" is a mess and I don't know if it is down to translation or that it was just ill thought out, but it could have been alot better, therefore increasing the immersive factor. However, I like the presentation, the graphics whilst sub - gears are pretty good too. The controls are pretty easy to get used to but if you don't like 'em you can change them! For me it's a big thumbs up. Nice Collectors Edition too.........

Eight for me.

That pretty much sums up my views on it.

All I would add is that the multiplayer is awesome fun

8/10 from me too.

Re: Lost Planet: User Reviews

On level 3 (just got to the giant worm) and loving it so far. Graphics are cool, nowhere near the level of detail of GOW I dont think but still excellent. Im playing through on normal difficulty and have to say that the parts with the space pirates are way too easy, they just never even dint my life energy, i just breeze through them but then the Akrid get tough so not quite wanting to put it up to hard yet. (anyone give any views on how much harder the hard is from normal ?)

Loving the online muliplayer. I came second in my first game after getting in some massive mech suit and blowing the sh** out of everyone Was such a relief after being constantly killed in GOW muliplayer to actually not be too bad at this. Really glad I got this (And swapped Zelda on the wii for it which I just wasnt liking at all)

8/10 for me so far

Top Banana

Just good, simple fire n forget fun.
Good graphics. Massive end of level bosses.
As someone else said not sure why there is specific criticism of the controls.
I have no problems with them.
Story is a non-starter but not essential for the enjoyment of the game.
Just pickup n play......

Re: Lost Planet: User Reviews

Picked this up from Tesco this afternoon and am really enjoying it, graphics are terrific, with great blizzard and explosion effects. Sound is also very good with some meaty floor-shaking explosions and some good orchestral music... Mech sounds are a little disappointing, especially when you land after a jet-jump - there should be a big thud but there isn't - could have used the sub a bit more here. Love the boss battles with the monsters.

After reading all the fuss about the controls I didn't have a problem with them at all.

I only have two main gripes:

1. Not a major one, but I don't really like the constantly draining life - I like to go and explore and look for collectibles once I've wasted the bad guys but in this game if you wait or wander off aimlessly you die...

2. A big one - TEARING. Why can't Capcom make a 360 game without it? It's terrible - on a par with Dead Rising. I even get it on passing objects such as cars as I'm walking in a straight line, never mind when panning left-right.

Would have got an 8 except for the Tearing which lost it a mark. Not holding my breath for a tearing-fix patch either...

Re: Lost Planet: User Reviews

I loved the demo and was really looking forward to the final version, especially as there was talk of an online co-op mode.

It's such a shame there isn't one though

I dont like the buffer buttons for 90 degree spins, would much rather have full camera rotation control with the stick personally.

But a great game, but only 7/10 for missing out on online co-op mode and some dodgy control choices.

I hope you two meant to type "component" ?

Regardless I'm seeing horrific tearing with VGA, especially on level 2... they obviously used the same "Tear-o-Vision" graphics engine from Dead Rising...

I get it with VGA too but I take the hit all 360 stuff looks far better via VGA on my TV.

Still, I dunno about anyone else but after a few minutes of play I soon forget about the tearing.

Either way Capcom certainly need to learn the joys of v-sync, it's not like Lost Planet or Dead Rising are running super high frame rates

Have any of you tried 1280x720?
Same engine as Dead Rising and the tearing much less obvious at this res.
