Re: FIFA 10 Xbox 360 reviews

Rated this excellent. The best next gen football game I've played and by quite a margin.

After an 11 year PES run it was FIFA this year and I've been nicely surprised, plays a good game of football, the online side of things works, and there's less bugs in the gamplay that use to annoy the hell out of me with the later PES games.

Couldn't give it an Outstanding as the shooting isn't quite there at times nor is the crossing and dribbling around players is very tough which does effect the fun factor a little.

Re: FIFA 10 Xbox 360 reviews

I'd say very good. FIFA09 impressed me as I hadn't played for a while and IMO was leaps and bounds ahead of PES which used to be my favourite. More evolution than revolution this year with some nice additions and greater longevity with all the career modes and more online play. Haven't sunk much time into it yet but it is a very good game which I look forward to playing more over the holidays with mates/over live.

Re: FIFA 10 Xbox 360 reviews

I voted Good.

I like the slightly tweaked gameplay to 09 however the Manager Mode has been made worse....still a few bugs in there. Offline multiplayer is good as well as online (from what I have played).

The commentary/sound is re-used from FIFA 09 (in the main) and I find this a bit lazy tbh.

I'm playing it a lot less than I did 09 which tells me something.

Re: FIFA 10 Xbox 360 reviews

I have to say oustanding.

This engine has been tweaked so impressively over the last 3 years or so.

There is little things still happening on the pitch weeks on that have me gobsmacked.

Re: FIFA 10 Xbox 360 reviews

I vote excellent

I have played the single player league and head to head online

I can't really fault the actual gameplay, it is just fun and skillful to play and the graphics are good

I am setting up an online league with friends, and there it will come down to skill as to who will win

I can see me playing this online very regularly

Re: FIFA 10 Xbox 360 reviews

I have really enjoyed fifa 10 and it is definitely far superior to pes 2010. Online is good as long as you select custom games to avoid the people who cut the connection when they are losing. My only gripe online is that the people who continually hold down the red button to press the player with the ball don't get penalised at all by tired players later on in the match and this is something EA need to sort out as it can really unbalance a match at times. Overall though an excellent footy game and the best yet

Have been an avid Pro Evo fan from day one and rarely bothered with Fifa (bar the first FIFA on the megadrive) as they were normally all talk and no action....

Anyway, the franchise has clearly impressed over the last couple of years and i have tried the demos and it never grabbed me, and to be honest neither did the demo for this. Being so in tune with the way PES played, naturally made playing this awkward and not garner the rewards it had to offer.....

Regardless as it was only £25 at Tesco, i got it knowing i could give it a bash and if i didn;t like it trade it at CEX and get my money back. Glad i did. I still got PES to try, but it is unfortunately broken beyond recognition and was traded within a week... very sad really.

So that leaves FIFA 10 standing proud in my collection, and it is starting to really get me hooked. It plays a fantastic and realistic game of football and so many things work very well, such as the RS first touch and the subtle direction changes allowed with the 360 movement. Very realistic when there's a slight gap between two players and you can just knock it between them and drive through.

That said, it's far from perfect....

Player likenesses, although not fundamentally important, they do need to be better.

Shooting feels a bit lame

Crossing / corners - appears very random even if actioning a certain command, ie double tap and pulling back to try and hit a runner on the edge of the box.... often goes nowhere near where you think it should... very odd, plus the bend is often ludicrous.

Transfer searching in MM is a lot more arduous than it should be... could learn from PES ML (although not the latest version, as that part is broken also!).

Overall though they are minor in the scheme of things and don't really detract from a great product. Also, the fact i can play as QPR is brilliant.

Rated it Excellent and i am officially a convert... never thought i'd see the day! If only they could take the likenesses, shooting and crossing from PES it would almost be perfect.

An 8 from me. The best Fifa yet without a doubt. The 360 degree dribbling took a while to get used to, but it really improves the game.

Using your own player in an online 10vs10 is great fun.

Similar gripes to previous game continue though - there seems to be a split second delay in button pressing and on screen actions when playing over Xbox Live, commentry is often way off what is actually going on, it is sometimes hard to select the player you want to control and there is the occasional feeling that the player isn't doing what you are telling him to do. I think these sorts of issues must arise due to the massive amount of variables in each game, but they do frustrate me, hence the mark.

Overall though, my favourite football game yet with masses of replay value.

Excellent game!

A few things really annoy me though as I feel they'd be simple to fix.

1. Why, when your playing through the single player league season, is they're no clear indication of the game your playing? I know who i'm playing but not sure if it's a cup or a league game etc unless I delve into the menus beforehand. The game engine seems 'detached' from the front end of the game.

2. Celebrations could be much better. I'm not really interested in running around and pressing random buttons. I remember playing Football Champ in the arcades 15 years ago and they were far better! Goooooooooooooooaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaalllllllllll!!! ie camera zooms in from a distance on goal scorer as he runs to manager and bench. Much better!

3. Keepers still not intelligent. Stop letting it go out for a corner!

4. Still get too many 'pinball' moments where you can't seem to get control of the ball

Few more but these are the main ones

Should also be bigger penatlies for players online who quit early!

Oh and I want to use my Microsoft points to bet with. Could give up my day job!!

Still awesome though!

Just thought I'd chip in my vote. This gets average from me, and I've played enough of it! Don't get me wrong, the gameplay etc is excellent, but there are so many bugs in the game that some of the game modes are pointless.

Manager Mode: 77(?) bugs in it, and EA refuse to fix them. Most aren't noticeable unless you're looking for them, but for me the laziness behind it all spoils it. When first released there was a bug giving assists to goalkeepers and no other players. Instead of fixing it, they just removed the feature of having an assists table.

Be a pro: played 1 game, won 1-0, and it went down as a 1-0 loss. Made the mode unplayable and I've never played it since.

Numerous other bugs as well. If you want to play through a realistic season, this isn't the game for you. If you want a footy game for footy's sake, its an excellent game. I wanted both, and only got one, hence the average score

Those people voting 10 must be fanboys or just never play manager mode
