Re: Forza Motorsport 3 Xbox 360 reviews

Excellent for me.
Lack of physics for me stopped it short of outstanding, by that i mean it feels arcadey in comparison to the Race Pro engine, but i am still enjoying it after been playing for many an hour.

Re: Forza Motorsport 3 Xbox 360 reviews

I voted good.

Another strong standalone package, but too much is rehashed from past forza games, not enough new features/gameplay can make the game feel like an add on, and the career mode is boring.

Most of all the online side is a big letdown, being the 3rd Forza game you would expect improvements not a backward step. Because of this I can't see me playing FM3 anywhere near as long as FM2.

I would have liked to have seen more improvements in the car physics, especially how the suspension reacts, which for me creates a poor connection between the car and road. Race Pro does this better.

I hope the next Forza has more emphasis on racing rather than car collecting/modding etc.

see above, a mistake. my actual vote is on the lines of "good".

When i first played it i was disappointed in it but now its growing on me the more i play it. i imagine my ratings may drop after a week or more of playing this but we'll see,

i have commented on the pros and cons of this game so read that from the forza 3 main thread.

A shame i cant rectify that mistake. ahh well

Re: Forza Motorsport 3 Xbox 360 reviews

i voted very good

i have a full friends list with 20+ people on forza3 at any one time so no problem finding good people to race with online

as a side note i have used the multiplayer random hopper a few times and dont see what the problem ism, alway end up in a busy lobby with pretty good racers, some of which have added me as a friend for future private races

there is a vote to kick option if people are being idiots

and a vote to skip the track option to use if a track you dont like is selected

all in all

VERY GOOD

Re: Forza Motorsport 3 Xbox 360 reviews

I also voted very good. It plays well, looks good and has loads of gameplay options to keep people entertained. I like the storefront, the photo editor and the livery designer, which all add longevity to the package.

The visuals are upgraded on last time and there's more tracks and cars.

Basically, it does little new, but it improves in pretty much all of the right areas from Forza 2. It does just feel like i've played it all before though, there's just more of it this time. Unfortunately that does leave you with an anticlimax feeling and I would have liked to have seen some innovation from Turn 10, instead of what is a very good but safe effort that does little to push the genre. The online side is not quite as good as last time either, but they'll probably tweak that as time goes by. I'd have also liked to have seen 16 player grids as 8 is pretty poor, especially on large tracks like Suzuka, Silverstone or the massive tracks like the Ring. 8 player grids pretty much limits online to the likes of Tsukuba, Maple Valley and the other small tracks as on larger tracks it can become very lonely (unless you are all very closely matched and there are no accidents).

As it stands though, this is currently the best console racing sim...so it's over to you Polyphony Digital .

Re: Forza Motorsport 3 Xbox 360 reviews

I think CAS has summed up my thoughts on the game. I voted Very Good. I think it's a class act at what it does (basically what it did in FM2) but it's never inspiring - the closest it gets to that is with the storefront.

Re: Forza Motorsport 3 Xbox 360 reviews

I voted good( I think) A very genrous 8

Not enjoying as much as I though I would, for myself. The paint and storefront etc options has none to little interest.

Also with it being very dark + shadow pop ups & I also have a issue with sound cutting out every few seconds.

I am on level 39

Re: Forza Motorsport 3 Xbox 360 reviews

i voted for very good, i wouldnt say any more than that though.

on first impressions when i first put the disc in and started to play the first race, i was dissapointed to say the least, im running 1080p on a samsung ue40b7000 and i think although the colours are nice and bright etc etc the general graphics of the game are not that of what they should be, the inside views are average at best, the driver doesnt change gear which is shocking, on toca 2 from way back the driver moved arm to change gear so this is lazy on turn 10's part.

more flaws in the game are in free play mode, now to me, when i see "free play" , this means like it was in forza2, i can choose, what track, all the options, and how many laps.... on forza 3???

ooooh, no! free isn't free! you can only do the certain laps it tells you you will do, and on drag races.... 1 drag and back to the menu, now in my eyes, this is shocking, what is the point of a free play when you dont get to choose anything to do with the race you are doing? that is poor and short sighted on turn 10's part.

another problem i have with the game is the lack of realism in some of the cars when it comes to handling, now i can accept that they cant drive every car and get them perfect but the cars seem to be set with lack of steering lock and an inherrant understeer problem.. now owning a gtfour, i purchased one straight away, and in horror to get the car to drive how one does in real life you have to modify the suspension and alter all the settings to get the back end to break loose as it would in real life so to me the game seems rather laboured in the fact they appear to of taken alot of time to make a game that makes no leaps and breaks no boundaries from its older brother which does the free play far superior.

in saying that though i was tempted to trade it straight in this weekend for cod mw2...

however... after playing it for a while now, i can say that it gets better and more addivtive the longer you go, i have been playing it alot over last few days and really enjoy it and would say it is a great game and fun to play.

its just a shame of the flaws in the game that could, and should of been ironed out but seems it was rushed to the store fronts, but all in all a very good game, it just takes a fair bit of time to get into the game as although i thought it was a waste of money after 15minutes i now after a week think its a very good game with some major flaws that spoil the fun but not enough to take anything away from the game.

good game.

Re: Forza Motorsport 3 Xbox 360 reviews

Do you play the game with a pad? if so the handling is neutered somewhat. I play with the wheel and i can get the back end to step out nicely with a Fiesta.

With RW drive and i have to concentrate hard on smooth driving even with a grip setup to stop my ride from snapping loose and causing an awful mess

Re: Forza Motorsport 3 Xbox 360 reviews

with the controller i do, i see, its alot different with the wheel then?

alot of people dont have a wheel so this should maybe of been looked at by turn 10 when the development was in progress as ive found like above, i need to setup the hell out of the suspension and the differentials to get 4wd cars to handle anywhere near the way they do in real life.

i do like the game though, think its a very good game, but with some silly mistakes in it, but i suppose nothing is perfect!

yes it does handle a bit differently when using a wheel compared with a pad, you can lose a car with the wheel in a way which just isn't possible with the pad.

good game but im bored with the sinlge player already.
My complaint is the same that i have with all todays race games. Pick a car and a difficulty win race, up difficluty loose race, pick slow car loose race, if you dont win a race you dont get points/achievments. I'm either winning races by 15 seconds or finishing dead last.
On line is great though when it works.
I long for the days of Geoff Crammond Microprose Grand Prix game!

Agreed, I really hope that they do something different with racing games after this. Hopefully GT5 will do something to move on the console sim racing genre.

The single player game is just easy (on hard with the aids off) and it's more of a tick box excercise than an enjoyable experience that pushes the gamer. It is all very well done, well presented with (for a console) decent visuals, but I can't play it for any length or time without getting bored.

It's a tough game to rate IMO as it doesn't do anything technically wrong, but it does very little to move on the genre and to provide the gamer with new and exciting experiences.

Online is pretty good, apart from not being able to set up the custom lobbies, but the grids are too small for some of the tracks.

After playing some more I feel that my 8/10 score is fair for this and I can't see how I could rate it any higher.

Like you I long for the days of GC's GP. Apart from the obvious development in graphics (higher poly counts and frame rates and of course texture mapping) it's amazing how well it still stands up today. Used to love playing the hot seat multiplayer on it.

Re: Forza Motorsport 3 Xbox 360 reviews

I voted outstanding. For me this is the best racing game on next-gen consoles.

Played with the MS wheel and all the assists off, the driving experience is fantastic. I can spend an hour just doing time trials because even that is great fun. I like how different the cars feel and even a Fiesta or Fiat 500 is great fun to throw around.

The graphics are great, the cars sound very different to one another, there is a good selection of tracks (many more to come I'm sure) and a great car line-up (racing range rovers online is a great laugh). The only thing I wish was better is the AI, but it's not bad by any stretch.

This game does everything very well and is fun most importantly. I prefer the driving experience to Race Pro, which while good, was a little over-rated in how realistic it actually was (like stamping on the brakes and not locking up, collisions etc). And as an overall package nothing gets close to this. The tuning, customisation, paint jobs - it's all there.

Re: Forza Motorsport 3 Xbox 360 reviews

Geoff Crammond's Grand Prix was an awesome game. I was addicted to it on my Amiga. The hotseat races were great fun. But that was 1992. I think if I went back and played it I would tarnish the memories. I certainly think racing games now are the best they've ever been and Forza 3 is one of them.

Re: Forza Motorsport 3 Xbox 360 reviews

Another outstanding vote from me too.. I can't fault it and I can't stop playing it

There is so much to do and I think the interface is superb. The sounds of those engines are intoxicating, from the whine of the superchargers to the whirl of the turbos, it's just so authentic and involving.

The graphics are simply beautiful and the handle is forgiving and really managable ( unlike the truly awful Need for Speed - Shift ) ..

For me this is the definitive driving game. I've always been a fan of the forza games and I think they are far superior to the Gran Turismo series... Forza is fun, GT is to clinical and quite frankly just plain dull ...

This is possibly my favorite Xbox game to date.

10/10

Late I know, but I voted Excellent.

The only things missing for me are:

A 'Free' camera for taking photos - this was 'advertised' before release but isn't in the game

More video recording/downloading options that were also 'advertised' beforehand.

More mates playing the game

I voted Very Good.

The driving itself is by far the best I've seen on a home console, with a high refresh rate, and a real feeling of being in the car. However, replaying the same old tracks (especially the Forza 2 ones) over and over in career mode eventually gets boring, and the loading times can really grate.

I also feel it's missing some of the excitement of games such as PGR, and sometimes feels a little cold.

Outstanding.

It's the best racing game available on a console IMO. The graphics are great and locked at 60 FPS, the controls are excellent, and there's a ton of content. The online element of the game is superb too and I like the interaction between the game and the Forza Motorsport website and the option to buy and sell cars, designs and so on. I think they've also done a good job of making the game accessible, because with all of the assists on it feels quite "arcadey" and anyone can jump in and play, but switch them all off and it's a full on sim racer.

I am enjoying this game at the min the selection of cars brilliant, graphics are good and gameplay is good. I think the online feature needs to be a bit better, but uploading photos and replays is a really good feature and makes the overall game better.

Hopefully more game modes will be availible but apart from that everything else is very good.
