Voted excellent, ticks all the boxes for me. Not even finished the game with my main character and I have already started it again with another, never done that before. This years Fallout 3 for me

Re: Borderlands Xbox 360 reviews

Excellent for me too. Its an addictive mix of first person shooter and role playing game that gets better and better as you play through the game. I'm currently at Lvl 39 after (too many) hours and on my second playthrough

The 4 characters are cliched but at least offer a different approach to the game and the game is superb in single player and even more enjoyable in co-op with 1/2/3 friends, when the enemies scale with the player so that there's always a challenge. Weapons are superb with some very over the top elemental effects added. Its a bit gory (rated 18) but funny with it and the cel-shaded graphics look stunning.

Collecting loot and levelling up is a pleasure and the grinding is (to date) enjoyable without feeling like a grind.

Not many negatives, a small minority of quests (scavenger ones) involve a bit of platforming which isn't welcome. I thought the ending was rather lacking too.

All in all, an excellent game and looking forward to the dlc.

Re: Borderlands Xbox 360 reviews

Outstanding for me. In my top 5 games of all time.

Just about on level 47 so wanting to get to level 50 before the dlc comes out. Once i get to 50, it will be the first game I have got 1000/1000 on...

Re: Borderlands Xbox 360 reviews

A solid 9/10 from me.

Takes a little while to get going, but once you're into it, it is very hard to put down.......it has that 'just one more mission' feel to it.

The graphics aren't going to be to everyone's taste, but I for one love the cell-shaded effect, and think it works perfectly for this game.

Loads of weapons, loads of shields/upgrade kits, plenty of enemies to test your guns out on, and the Special Skills also add something into the mix as well.

I can see the similarities with Fallout 3, but this (imo) is much more fun.

Am currently a Level 39 Hunter, and nearing the end of the game, and I can definitely see me going back for another playthrough using another of the characters.......not to mention Zombie themed DLC arriving soon as well.

Strikes me as a very underrated game this one, as not too many people on my Friends List seem to have tried it out, which is a real shame, as I would put it as one of the top three games of 2009 (alongside Batman Arkham Asylum, and the incoming Modern Warfare 2).

The fact its kept BOTH Halo discs out of my tray since I got this game is quite some task.

Go buy it!!

Re: Borderlands Xbox 360 reviews

We've been spoilt over the last couple of months with games like Batman, Forza, ODST, a bunch of XBLA games, FIFA (but not PES ) etc, but this is the first time in a long time I've been so engrossed in a game. I haven't touched the others and I'm not scouring the internets for previews of what's coming. Borderlands owns my Xbox right now.

It's a solid FPS with RPG hooks. The missions may be basic and similar but scouring out the best guns, nades, mods and shields makes it all worth while.

If I could tick everything on my wish list I'd want the world to be more like the world of Red Faction--more going on, destructable environments, etc. Borderlands is sparse, with not much going on, and the re-spawning enemies are a little disappointing. The story is weak too, but frankly, I don't care. I'm just in it for the loot and the gun play.

All in all, very good. It has me hooked.

Re: Borderlands Xbox 360 reviews

This was the surpise hit of the year for me as it wasnt on my radar till a week before release. I just thought it would be another FPS, but the rpg elements caught my attention especially the loot collecting and levelling up. Even if it was just a shooter it would still be fun but i'd never play it twice but since the urge to find rarer and more powerful weapons is too much to resist and i'm now on my second playthru with a lv40 roland and have a siren and hunter game in progress. Few games these days get finished let alone played twice so that is an achievement in itself.

9/10

This was a good game for me, very good on the poll. In my opinion, the Fallout 3 comparisons were too evident too avoid; it always felt like this game was Fallout 3's biggest little brother. The tech is hidden in a vault (Cough Fallout cough), travelling through the wastes (Cough F3 cough) whilst fighting mutated beings, need i say it again lol. This game is a very good game in its own right but for me it just never fealt rewarding enough and seemed boring/repetitive, i never actually completed the game as it got to the stage where i was slogging into it without much progression or reward. I did like the new graphical style however, it did suit the game despite it being called cell shading when its obviously not, this game was drawn from the bottom up. The vast amount of guns made me smile too. Loved the title track too "There aint no rest for the wicked.... etc etc "

I voted 'excellent'.

The good:

- Beautiful visual stylization
- Looting and leveling up is pretty damn addictive
- Satisfying combat
- Great sense of humour
- A HUGE array of weapons to meet your every need
- Top-notch selection of enemies and bosses
- Steady gameplay progression

The bad:

- Empty plot
- Framerate issues in heavily built-up areas
- Not enough skill modifications
- Getting trapped in a corner whilst being mutilated is bloody annoying!

For me the game was excellent. Great shooter which kept me entertained for hours. As was the Zombie Island of Dr. Ned DLC. However the new DLC was a big let down.

Nearly got 100% achievements in it, and well worth the effort!

I can’t stop playing this game, seriously its causing me problems at work and with the g/f. It’s like dangling a carrot in front of a donkey, you just want to find one more weapons cache that will contain that awesome weapon that you can then show off to your mates.

Massive areas to explore and even though i thought i would hate the art style its really grown on me and works extremely well with the game.

I’m level 32 hunter and when i hit 50 will be doing it all over with the other 3 selectable characters. A game worth ploughing hours into to get 1000/1000

I purchased the dlc with the bank within 48 hours of buying the game but can’t find anyone to play with in the Underdome.

Ive owend since xmas and still playing pretty much when i can and even tho i have completed the main quests im still trying to level up to level 50 and do all the side quests. Then i will get all the DLC, 3rd one is out real soon

Next Borderlands DLC raises level cap

Voted Above Average...

Personally I got incredibly bored very fast, particularly with the empty environments that seemed a tad dated given the completely interactive worlds we've got with other recent sandbox titles.

I can see why others would like it more (good sense of humour and style) but for me it wasn't full enough of a game to warrant a higher score. Perhaps I've just been spoiled with AC2 and others.

I didn't quite see this game as a sandbox game, very much saw it as a first-person shooting dungeon crawler in the mould of Baldur's Gate on the original xbox, I really enjoy those games up to a point but find that once my brain goes 'you're just doing the same thing over and over and over' then I can't hack it any more. In saying that, the draw of 'that next weapon' always pulled me back for more, that and exploding heads with headshots and shooting skag in the mouth to start the day

What's wrong with the stylized graphics? They're new and exciting .

I've given it an 8 overall. A thoroughly enjoyable game with a fair few hours playtime, fantastic graphics and great fun on co-op. I thought the humour in the game was spot on, especially the Monty Python and The Holy Grail killer rabbit tribute.

I felt that the enemies respawned too quickly and the game world could have been a bit more varied, which is why I didn't give it more.

Let's hope a Borderlands 2 arrives at some stage.

There are plans to turn it into a franchise. The next game is apparently going to be called Borderworlds.

I loved this game a real surprise find for me. I even brought it on the PC so I could play it again without having to share the TV. Stunning graphics and a good fast auction shooter. Not much of a story but you will feel like Rambo don’t know why but I found it very addictive.

I thought this was a pretty good game, I really enjoyed being able to play co-op with my brother. The stories ok but if you do all the quests the game feels a little long winded, but does keep you occupied with finding the best equipment and leveling up - kind of addictive? :-)

Voted excellent. One of very few games I have gone on to playthrough again. Got the DLC at the discount price recently, and now doing that. Hopefully going to be re-doing it again with another character m/p with a mate soon. Bought second hand and worth every penny.

When trying this game out, 1st feel was quiet different, that cartoony gfx actually well done, that million guns advert is misleading, not that many guns, just different stats, but overall playable at least once
