Guitar Hero Smash Hits, Guitar Hero Van Halen, Guitar Hero 5, Band Hero, DJ Hero

Yes I'm very serious, 5 more Hero titles on the way this year. I know smash hits has been announced but the way Activision are going with this money making joke, the whole preview forum will be full of Hero thread, so I've made a fresh one for them all.

I have Metallica and I like it, but only because of the music and they are not available for Rock Band 2. My opinion on this series, I just hope the profile of the RB series increases and the Hero series fades away, it's getting rediculous now. Also, I'm bored so here's a list of full retail games since Harmonix left the Hero franchise. Note: I've not included acdc because its just a dvd based song pack instead of DLC. Here goes...

Harmonix/MTV
-------------
Rock Band
Rock Band 2
Beatles: Rock Band
Lego Rock Band

Activision/Whoever devs it
--------------------------
Guitar Hero 3
Guitar Hero Aerosmith
Guitar Hero 4
Guitar Hero Metallica
Guitar Hero Smash Hits
Guitar Hero Van Halen
Guitar Hero 5
Band Hero
DJ Hero

4 vs 9, talk about laughable, plus GH games are independant and RB games are a platform. I know my post is just a rant about my negative views on this franchise, but it's just my opinion on upcoming titles. None of us are wrong or right

Metallica is good oasis, mainly cause their songs are rocking! Difficult though. I dont like the interface at all though, much prefer Rock Band. Is it me or are most of the out of the box songs on RB2 and GHWT the same? I may be wrong but I'm sure when I looked that was the reason that made me think there's no point getting GHWT due to having RB2, because they are very similar.

Hang on, you can't include GH: Aerosmith but then not include Rock Band: AC/DC...

Also, if you're not going to include Lego Rock Band cos it's not made by Harmonix, then don't include Guitar Hero: Smash Hits as that's not made by Neversoft.

So now that your bias is clear, the question is, why rant? You don't have to buy GH games you know...

Re: Guitar Hero Smash Hits, Guitar Hero Van Halen, Guitar Hero 5, Band Hero, DJ Hero

Edited to include Lego Rock Band, total still not half of what the Hero series is. Also, of course I can include Aerosmith but not ACDC. ACDC is just a disk based track pack, useable with RB1 and 2. Aerosmith is exactly the same as Metallica and Van Halen, a fully blown standalone game which cannot be used with GH3, 4 or 5. Beatles is the equivalent of these 3 titles, ACDC is nothing like them.

Yes, I do prefer Rock Band but mainly because I prefer the interface and weekly content. That's not to say the Hero games are bad, which I'm certainly not saying. I'm just making a point of Activision bleeding this genre dry, and my fear is that people will eventually say stuff this I'm not buying any more music games and Rock Band will suffer as well because of this.

Activision are doing the same with Call of Duty, it's a brilliant series but eventually the changes between versions will get so small, it'll hardly be worth buying.
