Re: Skate 3 (May 2010)

I completed this game (I even got every last achievement, DLC included), and bloody loved it. All EA have to do for my money is this:
1. Make the front-end menus a bit better
2. Make a completely new set of skate areas (including for online)
3. Make landing in a manual after a Tailwalk 720 impossible...
4. Remove glitch exploits

If they do that - which, really, are the minimums you'd expect from a sequel - I will be very, very happy. I loved Skate 2, one of my games of the year so far, bar none.

I'm, like, totally stoked for the sequel, dude.

Re: Skate 3 (May 2010)

Fantastic news! Loved the first one, loved the second one, completed both of them, looking forward to the next one.

The Tony Hawk series is just a distant memory.

Re: Skate 3 (May 2010)

Nice to see some familiar areas (Car park) and some new ones (Quarry).

I'll be picking this up at release. Don't disappoint me EA!

Re: Skate 3 (May 2010)

I'm excited for this game. I loved the first, and got the second on release, and loved the improvements.. but...

Personally, I would like to see the 3rd in a new city. I think it was a bit sketchy just remaking the first city for the second game, and if they do it for a 3rd time, I think I might find myself dissapointed.

The trailer shows pretty realisting lines, but I still find that in Skate2, it wanted you to do things that were a little more "Tony Hawks"

At the end of the day, i'll be buying it on release, and i'm still really looking forward to it, i'm just not getting my hopes too high.

Nice preview write up here: Xbox360Achievements.org - Skate 3 Hands On Preview - With Friends Like These...

Looks like a new city and some new MP modes.

Re: Skate 3 (May 2010)

Ok....

Now..i'm excited!

"Having moved away from the resolutely anti-skate city of Skate 2’s San Vanelona, where the authorities were constantly on your tail for being a naughty, anarchic skater type, the sequel’s Port Carverton is a sparkling, skater’s paradise – the very antithesis of San Vanelona’s crazed law enforcement. Skate 3’s vibrant city welcomes you with open arms"

I was hoping for a new city, and one thing I disliked was the element of security and capping of rails etc.. :D

The MP looks great, but i'm a bit unsociable online when it comes to this game, so i'm hoping for another great SP mode, but I doubt i'll be dissapointed as long as I can find a nice stair set to skate for hours on end.

Looks good, like the new city, I also didnt like rectricted areas and security. Only thing with the video clip was that there where no new moves? I realy want to find out if manuals can be tweaked, theres a whole new area they could go into with more manual triks.

It's always bothered me that i've never played a skating game where you can realistically drop-in, as in, put the tail on the coping and drop in rather than jump in like a tit!

I'd also like to see some development into lip tricks, not hand plants etc, but little stalls on the coping. It would make skating half pipes a lot more satisfying and goes better with the simulation element EA are going for.

Looking forward to the demo!
I remember when the first Tony Hawk's demo came out, I played that 2 minute session for hours on end!
Skating games always have immense demo playability!

I hope they've improved the on-foot controls. Other than that, I'm really looking forward to this.

I absolutely loved 1 & 2 - played them to death.

Intial thoughts are good. The presentation is a lot slicker. They've vastly improved the on-foot controls. The new camera angle is a nice addition. Difficulty settings are good as well. Hardcore mode is a great step forward in terms of realism. Everything else is pretty standard fare, from what I've seen so far.

Got the demo yesterday.. gotta say, i'm more than impressed with the improvements!

Hardcore mode is a relief. It's great to see realistic physics (Even more than the original Skate) as I was concerned the game was getting a bit too unrealistic.

FINALLY... you can drop in! I can't tell you how happy this makes me! It's always bothered me in skating games, that entering a half pipe you always have to ollie in and look awkward.
If you go to the trick book in the start menu, you'll see a lot of the new things you can do, like Darksides and darkflip catches etc.

Also, press LB and you'll get the option to place objects wherever you are. A lot of it's locked at the moment, and a little glitchy, but I imagine this feature in the full game will be excellent.

Visually I think there are improvements, but the real improvements for me are in the bails and player movements. Far more realistic, and the bails are a lot less exagerated.

I was worried whether this game would bring Skate back for me. The first one I played more than anything, ever. But the second I never felt the same connection with. Just the other day I was playing and couldn't get into it. I get the demo for Skate 3 and i've been on it constantly. Bring on May 14th!

One happy chappy right here!

I saw my girlfriend (of 3 years) yesterday, and like an excited child has been told they're going to Disney World, I informed her that on May 14th, she might as well accept I won't be seeing her for a few days, as Skate 3 drops..

She looked more bothered by this than usual.. I realised why when she reminded me that May 14th is her birthday!!

oh man, forgetting your GF birthday, bad move Get her a nice big present to soften her up then drop it about not seeing her as much over the few days because of other commitments

I've never played a skateboard game in at least 7 years and never even played any of the other Skate demo's (until this one). Anyway, really enjoyed it that much, I decided not to get Splinter Cell and FIFA World Cup and wait for this instead definitely picking this up on day 1 release (or even a day earlier if my shopto pre order comes).

I would be more excited if they had picked a less crowded month. With Red Dead, Alan Wake and the Halo Reach beta, I'm just finding it slightly hard to get hyped. It's something that I'll definitely pick up, but unlike 1 & 2 it's not a day one purchase for me.

I think Skate 2 killed a little bit of my love for the franchise, and the demo kind of has a "been there, done that" feel to it... but the main thing is the release date; it's a crowded month, and something's got to give.

No doubt about it!
Alan Wake and Red Dead Redemption are on my want list, but this is priority. I've played the demo a lot, and watched so many development videos. It really does look like it's going to be the best Skate yet. 2 was a dissapointment for me, but with hardcore mode, and a lot of the tweaks, plus a whole new city, i'm excited. Could be my GOTY in terms of enjoyment I get from a game.
