NHL 10 (UK Release: 18 Sept 2009)

It's out in September and a demo is out soon apparently. I never got round to getting 09 (wish I had) so I'm really looking forward to this one. Hopefully they won't ruin a good thing!

I'm sure they won't. 09 was ace on the PS3 still unsure what console to get it on.

Got 09 on the 360 last year and can honestly say it was my most played game by far. Will definitely get NHL 10

really looking forward to this loved 09 still play it loads, looking forward to the after whistle action with hitting and face wash

fighting engine looks ok, but more looking forward to better goalie controls for people who play as a goalie

Loved '09 on PS3 for a while, then so many other games came out I never went back to it. Not sure about this years. I'll have FIFA 10, CODMW2 Uncharted2 to play, so this will be on the list to buy once/if it comes down in price.

Now Richie, don't go to the dark side on me! We struggled enough for players last season without you going all 360 on us!

TBH - 09 was one of those games that was so good I would've bought a console just to play it on. Can't see them changing much this year - and nor should they.

FWIW I tried NHL 09 on both 360 and PS3 and thought it was smoother on 360 - particularly in Be-A-Pro mode - nothing in it in a normal game from overhead viewpoint. The frame rate held up better on 360 in BAP - in isolation PS3 was fine but going from one to the other you can see the difference. Try the demos for NHL 09 for both and you will see what I mean.

Really enjoyed NHL 09 - never got into an EASHL team - will hop to do so in NHL 10. I`ll be getting it for 360 and Madden 10 - though Fifa 10 on PS3 - 09 looks better on 360 but controls better on PS3 for some reason.

Used to have one too - it went bang on me though. I may dive back in depending on the price around Christmas.

Really looking forward to this, the changes are really going to add to the game.

*Fantasy draft
*New - play along the boards
*New - Dynasty with GM ratings for the draft, trade deadline and free agency
*After the whistle penalties and scrimmages
*1st person fighting

This is going to be sweet.

Tried to get into an EASHL team last year but the time difference caused all sorts of problems, anyone up for creating a UK based AVF team

Going to be a tough decision this one I agree. Be nice to play it with guaranteed good comms but was also looking forward to the reforming of the PS3 BAP team. Hummmm........

I certainly would be interested in joining an AVF EASHL - loved NHL 09 - possibly best sports game of last year - preferred 09 on 360 so I`ll be getting 10 on the 360 too.

Seem to be scheduled for release 15th September in the US but end October here

Hopefully, it will be region free like Tiger 10 so videogamesplus can come to the rescue

also to back up that 18th september release date after playing the battle for the cup it comes up in stores 18th september

tiger woods 10 demo was the same said in stores 3rd july

I've not played 09 but was really impressed with the demo, a real step up from 08. I think the new board play makes it much more like a real game. I'm amazed I never missed it before. The fighting was more fun than I thought as well. One thing that stood out as well was the commentary, especially the emotion and how quickly they, generally, picked up the things. Very impressive considering the speed of the game.
I admit I don't know a huge amount about hockey but it's definitely great fun as a game. Think i'd struggle with the Be A Pro mode as I don't have a clue where my player should be. I take it thats what the blue arrow is for? One minute I'm in position and the next it's telling me I should be on the other side of the ice.

Also, what's the best way to stop/block passes and shots from the AI? Every time I get in the way of one the puck just goes right through! Is there a button I have to press?
As I don't know the ins and outs of the game I seem to always end up chasing the puck and look like a kid in the playground who's had his ball taken by the bullies! Do you play zone or man to man defense or a combination or nothing of the sort? lol
Is there a good site that explains hockey for beginners? I do the basics, but not the strategies or tactics.

I really enjoyed 08 so looks like this is a must buy for me. Well done EA.

Played about 50 matches on 09 and loved it, looking forward to playing the demo, definite buy though for me anyway.

Good news on the release date because all of the magazines have it coming out in October

. I was tempted to email EA and ask why we had to wait so long after the US. They are better at this on line as it is without giving them a month head start to learn all of the glitch goals.

when you do play it you will see the release date after you have played battle to the cup mode, and according to that it is in stores 18th sep which makes that a friday

just 3 days after it comes out in the states

Been playing a lot of the demo. Really really impressed - plaing Pro & Normal (not default). I like hardcore setting but the pass speed is just a bit too slow on manual passing / aiming - will be able to adjust that with sliders though.

I think it plays really well - the puck has a mech looser feeling and I`ve seen a great variety of goals.

Presentation is very similar in terms of graphics which were great anyway but they really do seem to have polished the gameplay

I`ll be getting it on release day.

had 09 on ps3 and loved it, but got distracted with so many other games and never really gave it the time it deserved. I love the new demo, but will wait for it to come down in price before I add it to my collection.

Dammit, another must buy for me. EA seem to be playing a blinder this year. It's certainly not an easy game, but that just makes it so satisfying when you score. I've not played enough NHL games to have scored loads of goals, but scored my favourite last night.
Was skating into the boards at the top right corner with the puck and two guys behind me steaming in. My guy looked over his left shoulder as I pressed back to aim the pass

and as I pressed RT he does a no look pass backwards right across the ice to an open man who belts it in leaving the goalie floundering like a dead fish. The guy who passed got creamed about half a second after he made the pass.

Great stuff.
