Just watched the new trailers for this on xbox and thought it was looking pretty good. They trailers have the date now 'set' as Fall 2010.

It looks a lot like Fallout, was gonna say a bit too much like Fallout until I realised it was by Bethseda that'll explain that one then Fett lol

Seems to have some good looking mechanics behind it, during one part of the videos the voice over guy was saying you are in a team of up to 8 players online (if I remember correctly) which features a drop-in drop-out function with the computer filling in any 'missing' actual people, I could be wrong about that but pretty sure that's what he was saying. Anyways you can assign yourself a role within that 8 man team, the guy chose to be a spec ops type and was saying that it's his role to hang back and not fight on the frontline, that's the job of the folks assigned 'grunt' role type. In some ways it looked to flow a bit like Mirrors Edge in a free-running kinda way when moving through the land and over obstacles etc, basically the videos explain things a whole lot better than I do, check it out if you fancy that type of game!

If it manages to pull it off it looks like it could be a cracker, just a pretty big if though!

Brink Video Game, GDC 10: Cinematic Trailer HD | Game Trailers & Videos | GameTrailers.com

Cinematic Trailer. This could be good though it would need to be quite varied to keep me playing for long. Reminds me a bit of Team Fortress in the art style and classes and also a bit like Shadowrun sans magic.

Yeah was thinking that myself today, reminded me a lot of the Team Fortress vids, still annoyed we never got a full set of vids for that one! Lol quite like the idea of doing certain tasks during the missions to help the team out, would be cool to be playing 8-player coop (I think this is what it claims it can support?) but actually just fulfilling a role within the bigger picture and crossing paths with the rest of your squad every now and then.

Would be quite cool if you got broken into little teams and doing coop but say have 2 teams of 2men and 1 team of 4men doing three different missions, one disables perimeter defences, one leads a stealth assassination of the commander and the other do a frontal assault then have the other two teams flank round and attack from behind the enemy and join up with the main team again.

Hope this one turns out good and is varied enough to play through several times with coop

Hmm, sentuamessage made this sound like it might be 8v8 'scenario' type situations, almost a bit like Left4Dead in my mind's eye, didn't really think of this in those terms but after a bit of a knee-jerk 'sounds ****' I'm grown to thinking maybe it could work quite well, suppose if it's 16 player online you'll be screwed if either the AI is crap or the human players decide to screw about in the game instead of playing properly.

Hope neither happens and that we have solid AI to fight against and also folks play in the spirit of the game. Any idea on release dates yet?

Graphically and the visual style looks excellent, but the gameplay doesn't look good judging from Garythepotato's video.

Gunplay and movement looks fine, but what you have to do by the sound of it not just what I've seen doesn't sound fun.

I like the sound of doing a wee side-mission to help the main story-mission go a bit easier, depends how all the mechanics work I suppose though, hopefully this is an October release, will save me pennies in the hope, not really too much else on the horizon which is grabbing my interest other than arcade games

I can't link to it from work, but there's a preview over at Eurogamer dated May 2010 explaining more about this game.

It sounds like Shadowrun meets Team Fortress 2 meets Borderlands, with added context-sensitive jumping/running/rolling a la Gears. There's eight player drop-in, drop-out co-op, and huge customisation options, including skills/abilities that be unlocked in each class, as well as different body types (skinny, normal, heavy).

I'd urge you to go and dig out the preview (perhaps a kindly soul will link it or paste it here ), but basically, this is all you need to know: Brink is now right at the top of my gaming wish-list.

This game looks amazing and so fun! Check out this new developer walkthrough from E3: Brink Video Game, E3 2010: Walkthrough HD | Game Trailers & Videos | GameTrailers.com

The gameplay is like a cross between Team Fortress 2 and Battlefield. You can hand out medpacks (if you're a medic) and ammo (if you're a soldier) to teammates, and you can disguise yourself as the enemy if you are an operative. There is loads of weapon/character customisation, and you can change your class in-game at command points.

They have introduced some great new features to the game like when you are downed, a medic can throw you a syringe to revive yourself, so you can choose whether to die or not. I think this is a great improvement to the system in Battlefield where a medic can just revive you in the middle of gunfire and you just get killed again, which isn't fun.

They also give you XP for each hit you make on an enemy, so you get rewarded even if your teammate "steals" your kill. I like that immediate feedback for shooting enemies.

This is now my most anticipated game!

Yep, Brink has indeed been pushed back from a scheduled 2010 release, but I hadn't really given this much of a look-in until E3 this year, so the new trailer was what really hooked my interest - and it does say "Spring 2011," in fairness. I'm just pleased I didn't already have my hopes up for a release this year, as now I'm not disappointed by the delay!

It looks and sounds a great game, but nor am i disappointed it's been delayed due to the amount of other great games due for release before it. It being delayed should only make it better anyway.

Unlike some of us... Ach well, maybe I will end up with one of the other big-hitters this year, was looking forward to this and Homefront but they've both been rescheduled... Gutted lol

It does look, visually, very impressive. If they can get the gameplay working well this game could be an absolute smash. On my radar for sure.

Seen a few videos and the free-flowing movement looks very good, even in early versions.

More than anything else, this is what appeals to me, too.

Even though the developer videos on the marketplace are a bit over-hyped and come across as pure PR (which I guess they are), some of the hyperbole still rings true for the SMART thing. It's a bit like translating the Gears of War "A" button movement to an FPS game - but more fluid. The options should immense. I can already picture people pulling out some crazy moves in versus and coming up with dazzling routes through levels to objectives.

This is definitely amongst the top few games of my wish list.
