Re: Blur - from the PGR team

Read a preview in Edge today, the multiplayer sounds good. It has a pseudo Face book environment where you can join groups, publish and tag in-game pics. I think the group is a bit like a clan system, plus on-line games can be highly customised (i.e you can turn weapons off).

If someone told me that was a sequel to Flatout I would believe them, that's not a criticism mind.

Re: Blur - from the PGR team

i dunno, it looks fine and comming from Bizarre Creations with their pedigree it'll be solid at the least but it seems like they've realised a lot of the lobbies in PGR turned into demo derbies and they've managed to come up with.....

Re: Blur - from the PGR team

Yeah looks good, The team from PGR dont know how to make a bad game so will be great for sure.
Tho not sure i like the stupid shunt and shock gimmiks, may put me off.
And what is it with the 4 letter racer names these days? PURE, DiRT,GRiD,FUEL and now BLUR?? Come on devs think!!!, Lets hope it's not NAFF!
Looks great and it will be but them stupid features makes it half way to being NAFF and spoiled for me, hate all that stuff. Hope im wrong.
So if Bizarre creations working on that does that mean no new PGR anytime soon?

Re: Blur - from the PGR team

Looks like Bizarre got fed up of people smashing around tracks on PGR that they actually made a game designed to smash each other about! Looks great fun, yet another one to add to "the list"

Yeah but that's no good for the 90% of us who play them games properly!!.
Hope it dont end up like a Full Auto type effort. ie useless.

That depends on how you define 'properly'. When I'm on Forza 2, I'm strictly non-contact, driving by the rules of that game. When I'm on Burnout Paradise, I find it rather annoying that some people accuse me of 'cheating' because I smash them into traffic to take the lead.

PGR games try to play a line between the two, so while I'd never bury the opposition in the barrier deliberately, a certain amount of rubbing as you jockey for position seems reasonable, assuming the opposition aren't on bikes where such a technique is clearly cheap.

I think MS retained the rights PGR when the companies split, so you're not likely to get another Bizarre developed PGR game.

Re: Blur - from the PGR team

Really looking forward to this, mostly for the reason that you can still race intelligently but removes that nasty almost anal element to some racing games.

Blur seems to be all about fun but technical...but not too technical.

Looks like a complete winner to me, it won't overtake the likes of Forza or even PGR but hopefully it will carve a niche of its own.

Viral video mashup for Blur. Very little to do with the game, lots to do with famous clips of people injuring themselves. Ahh, beautiful beautiful schadenfreude!

Re: Blur (from the PGR team) (UK Release: 6 Nov 2009)

Was really looking forward to this, but at least its not gonna get ignored and left on the shelf cos of COD 6

Quote:
Activision has announced that Blur, the first game from Project Gotham Racing developer Bizarre Creations for new owner Activision, will now be released in 2010. The game had previously been scheduled for release in November on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.

Activision says the new 2010 release date gives the development team more time to "enhance the game's innovative and distinctive online multiplayer gameplay".

"We are committed to making Blur a great new racing franchise, and we are very encouraged by the game's design," stated Mike Griffith, President and CEO, Activision Publishing.

"The additional time will allow the studio to fully optimize the vision they set out to create for Blur including a distinctive and groundbreaking multiplayer mode that will appeal to a broad audience."

Re: Blur (from the PGR team) (UK Release: 6 Nov 2009)

oh well, i didn't have much excitement for this anyhow. The best car battle game was Twisted Metal on the PS1 and that had nowt to do with racing.

Bizarre Creation's talents would be much better utilised creating an out and out thoroughbred racing game which i have no doubts at all that they could achieve.

Loving the Youtube vid

It was rumoured that Turn 10 would be given the PGR brand. Don't know if there is any truth in it, they surely must be busy enough with Forza

New video. How many cars are in that one race near the start of the vid!!!

Blur Video Game, Power-Ups Trailer | Game Trailers & Videos | GameTrailers.com

Been put back to next year but could be quite a cool game.

Wasn't sure how to embed the video.
