YouTube - Comic Jumper Reveal Trailer

Looks interesting, a bit more gameplay footage would be nice.

Re: Comic Jumper - Twisted Pixel's ('Splosion Man) Next Game

Is this based on an actual comic strip? I was going to post the info of this but from what I read it looked a bit crap, didn't realise it was twisted pixel's game however so maybe more I need to give it more of a chance!

Re: Comic Jumper - Twisted Pixel's ('Splosion Man) Next Game

I am two for two with Twisted Pixel games at the moment, so, despite the didgy trailer, I'm definitely willing to let this have the benefit of the doubt.

I would imagine it's not due until next year?

Never seen it before that. But it looks like some good fun. Worried maybe they are trying to cram too much into it, but it looks solid. Love the graphics style change between levels.

Twisted Pixel really do give a lot of 'content' with their games

I've heard it is really, really funny, but the game play lets it down as it is quite tough and very repetitive.

I got it today. Ive only played an hour or so, but i love it. It plays just like an old school shooter, most parts of it are like gunstar heros and other parts are a bit like geometry wars.
Of course its really really funny too, its one of the few games that has actually made me laugh out loud (origami kid made me wet myself).
I also got plants vs zombies the other day, so with the offer thats going on at the minute they cost me 800 points each, bargain of the century!!!!

To be honest, i thought it was gonna be much harder than it was. I managed to complete it in under 5 hours and now i only need 2 more achievements.
I dont know if its because im from the 8-bit era so im used to games being hard as nails.

Played the demo of this last night and was surprised to discover I didn't actually like it that much(was a HUGE fan of Splosion Man and The Maw before that). The humour was great, as re aht graphics, but I thought the gameplay was pretty uninspiring personally.

I did think the price was going to be the only thing that could hold me back from this, but I have to admit, even if it had been 800 points I'm not certain I'd have bought it.

Once again I seem to go the opposite direction to everyone elses opinion

I wasn't too keen on this either, I'm trying to justify to myself buying 2400 points worth of games just now but with Lara Croft still not having online-coop, Monday Night Combat not looking like anyone on my FL is playing it and nothing else really grabbing my attention I may well miss the promo.

I dunno, not sold on this, might end up getting LC and a couple of 800 pointers to see me through.

IMO, Lara Croft is well worth buying, even without the online co-op. It gives you about 8 hours of gameplay in single player and having played through it in co-op as well, the experience is different enough that you would play through it again when the online co-op patch arrives.

I bought Comic Jumper this morning. I'll easily spend the 2,400 for the promo, because I can see myself picking up at least one game out of Sonic 4, the Pinball FX 2 tables, Super Meat Boy, Costume Quest or Haunted House, plus the final Alan Wake DLC is out on the 12th and I'll be grabbing that along with any indie games that take my fancy.

It's a shame the indie games aren't part of the DLC promo as I'd easily make up 2400 on them alone. I think I'll end up getting LC and seeing what else I can find. Just out of interest, where do you buy your points from?

I used to get my points from 7DayShop.com cos they were the cheapest and the delivery was free, but they've put their prices up recently. The last batch of points I bought was from cheapxboxlivecodes.com, but they're not the cheapest either. I went with them cos I wanted the points right away and the price difference was only about a quid.

Where do you get yours from?

Used to be Game while I could do that £5 off 'deal' but after that it's just been a case of anywhere a deal pops up. Usually TheHut or Shopto send the odd email or two through with discounts so I end up paying £15-16 but as I say it's usually just wherever I can find them cheaply. The last ones I got were from Tesco with Halo Reach. I'll need to get scouting properly soon so I've got a decent stash in the house

This game is so close to being brilliant. The gameplay itself isn't that inspiring though. It's Contra/Gunstar Heroes style shooting/platforming mixed with Rez/Panzer Dragoon style sections for the most part, which is still fun, but it's not quite what I hoped it would be.

The graphics, the art style, the humour, the songs, the use of real actors and members of the Twisted Pixel team, the concept of playing through different comic book stories set in different environments - all excellent. If you liked the gameplay in the demo, I'd say it's a must buy, but for me it doesn't quite reach that "classic" status. I'm glad I bought it though.

I totally agree with you. Personally i love the game, but i know lots of people who found the gameplay very shallow or frustrating.
Its definatly one of those games that either clicks with you and you have great fun with it, or annoys the hell out of you.

I've played though the trial and I must say that the production values and ideas throughout the game are fantastic. They have put so much effort into it.

I'd highly recommend everyone give the trials a go just to see all the different ideas etc.

However, I did find the gameplay a tad boring after a while (not awful though - just not thrilling enough to shell out 1200 points), and although some of the humour is genius, there are other bits that seem a bit off the mark.

It's definitely a game to have a go at and appreciate the effort and time obviously put into it though.

Finally took the plunge with this when it dropped to 400 points for the second time a month or so back, and I'm glad I did. Have just finished the game today.

The gameplay is quite repetitive but ideal for those times you just want to switch off. I must admit that I spent quite a bit of time just playing the second Challenge level just to boost my bank balance and buy upgrades before delving too far into the main Missions. The Challenge mission is quite good fun: the initial boosting wasn't really a chore and made the main game less frustrating (I think it might have been a bit too much for me otherwise).

The humour is great in places (Pling Pling's ascendency being my favourite), though falls into the Monkey Island trap of feeling they have to try to make every bit of dialogue funny. If you like Twisted Pixel's humour, I'd say this is the best yet by a margin.

With hindsight, given the amount of work that has clearly gone into the game the original 1,200 price tag (now reduced to 800) was probably quite reasonable. If it comes up for a third time at 400 points, I'd say it is a must buy for anyone with even the slightest interest: the brilliant Premium theme alone is worth a fair bit of that.
