Upcoming XBLA Titles - 1200 is the new 800

Xbox360Achievements.org - Summer of Arcade Details and Pricing Revealed

Plenty of crackers in there like Shadow Complex and Trials HD, but looks like we'll be paying 1200 as standard.

Playing devils advocate

I dont like the price rises but we seem to have a skewed sense of value us gamers..

Pint of beer £3
Large Coffee £2
Dominos pizza £14...

£10.50 for a game doesnt seem that bad for the amount of effort that goes into making them, not that i will buy most of them anyway probablt one or two of them on that list

No wonder I don't go to Dominos , although I think my wife pays £2.40+ for only a medium coffee at Starbucks

I'm fine with 1200pts for a new title as long as it really is good. 1200pts for Shadow Complex sounds like a bargain and I also know I'll get my 1200pts worth out of Battlefield 1943. But 1200pts for Trials HD, I'm not so sure.

I lost large portions of my life to Trials:Mountain Heights, a 2D Java version of Trials HD.
If it's anywhere near as good as that, I probably shouldn't buy it.

Get a make-your-own pizza from Asda £2-3 and wee all over most take aways!!

1200 isnt that bad, especially if they are going to be a similar quality (when it eventually works) to 1943

I haven't paid £14 for a dominoes pizza ever. They always have deals. At the moment its buy any pizza for £7.99 (collection). I don't work for them but do eat them regularly as I am too lazy to cook one myself.

Hopefully MS will do deals on these aswell.

£10 for a games doesn't sound bad but it depends on the size of the game and whether it works *cough*battlefield*cough*.

Still if we see value in a bit of 50p dought, 20p sauce and 50p cheese for £8 that lasts maybe an hour games seem good value..

Re: Upcoming XBLA Titles - 1200 is the new 800

Let's get this topic off pizza and points cost.

I think the important thing to look at here is that we have reached a new evolution in Arcade titles, heralded by BF 1943 and to my mind somewhat hinted at before that by Cell Factor.

In other words a step up from Arcade titles that were worthy of the PS1 and maybe PS2/Xbox and to a new vein of hi-def, smaller games that appear to be top quality and all at a budget price with no physical media.

Arguably it's something that PC owners have had for a while but with 1943, Trials HD and Shadow Complex, developers really are pushing the notion of a downloadable title and bringing us not just puzzle games, ports, remakes and old school 2D platformers but something a bit more sophisticated, something with that wow factor in terms of visuals.

Personally, after watching the vids for many of the above games this morning, I immediately ordered a 2100 card from Zavvi in anticipation of buying something from the above named.

Another thumbs up for Asda pizzas! Best out there you can buy and bloody good value

I remember the days of 400 to 800 MS Points per arcade title but that was back when games were limited to 50Mb. The recent batch have been only a marginal step down from full blown physical releases, I seem to remember Monkey Island was over 500Mb! Although short on maps Battlefield is a steal at 1200 points IMO.

Game had a voucher for £10 off a £100 spend, so by ordering Tony Hawk's Ride (at £99) and a 2100 points card.
Putting the above through the checkout and paying (no money would be taken from the card until dispatch) would then put the order on hold due to the pre-order.
From there you could then cancel the pre-order for Ride, whereby the £10 off would come off of the points card (£17.50 - £10 = £7.50 ).

They've got a code floating around for £4 off a £50 spend at the moment I believe, I guess this would work for the method mentioned above (which in theory would let you get a 2100 points card for £13.50)...
