Serious Sam on XBLA

Great stuff, loved this on xbox

Croteam making Serious Sam for XBLA News // Xbox 360 /// Eurogamer - Games Reviews, News and More

Quote:
Majesco has told Eurogamer that Serious Sam will return this summer on Xbox Live Arcade.

Late summer, specifically, for 1200 Microsoft Points (GBP 10.20 / EUR 14.40).

Dubbed Serious Sam HD, the game will re-imagine The First Encounter, and be created by original developer Croteam.

The chaotic first-person shooter, where enemies spawn and overwhelm from every angle, will return with online co-op for four friends. The surreal Egyptian setting will be spread across 12 levels, and we're promised dazzling, revamped visuals.

The charm of Serious Sam, which first appeared on PC in 2001, forms around controlling the swarms of baddies that are triggered when collecting ammo or reaching a new areas. There are bulls that charge, headless baddies that blow-up, ranged attackers, skeletal horse monsters and enormous bosses.

Sam's arsenal is as over-the-top as the situation, but deciding what to use and what to kill while dodging and scrapping is another matter. It's brilliant.

Yeah, I'm looking forward to this, although it might end up tarnishing my memories of the original, long time since I played this

Re: Serious Sam on XBLA

I forgot about this game, very refreshing when it first came out, all I remember is lots of rocket launchers, very good fun. Should be good on XBLA.

Re: Serious Sam on XBLA

Amazing game, really underrated. I consider this a truer sequel to Doom][ than Doom 3 was. Just hundred of monsters, some **** off big guns, great level design and healthy dollop of humour. Can't wait to get this.

Has anyone bought this? If so, does the game show a proper icon in your games library, or just the generic one?

Played the demo last night. Quite a generous one as it took me 40+mins to complete.
I actually really enjoyed it. I didn’t have it on the PC but it reminded me a lot of Duke Nukem 3D
Not purchased it yet but probably will. Want to read a few reviews to see how long it is and whether co-op works well. If so then definitely a purchase.
The suicidal zombies that run at you made me jump and scared a few times. Quite disconcerting hearing this screaming voice coming at, especially on surround sound!
The demo is repetitive but that harks back to how FPS were back in the day, Doom was basically shooting anything that moves and getting a key for a door, go to next level then repeat. I think they have tried to retain the original feel of the game but given the graphics a face lift.
Overall quite impressed.
If anyone purchased this does the 4 player co-op work and is it good?

Likewise. At least it's a problem with the game and not the console/hard drive.

I joined a random game today and 4 player worked perfectly it's awesome fun playing it in co-op. It's just a shame we didn't get the 16 player co-op from the PC version!

For me, it definitely reminded myself of old times. However I felt it was too slow and unsmooth to be truely satisfying.

Anyway I've got my points ready for another game

This issue has been fixed now. If the icon is still not showing up, deleting the game and downloading it again will sort it.
