Shadow Complex

This game just came under my radar today. Not heard of it before but looks/sounds pretty impressive for an XBLA game. Epic are behind the game and Cliffy seems to be at the forefront of it.

...and ChAIR who were responsilbe for the hugely underated Undertow, no doubt Epic and Cliffy will take pretty much all the credit for the game but watching the videos it's easy to see ChAIR are invloved.

Looks great though and definately one to watch!

Completely agree on the Undertow underated thing as my eyes are still rolling after that final level on Ultra.

Ultra was pretty intense wasn't it, and that final ChAIR really did master the blend of 2D and 3D visuals though with that game, think the best I've seen in that style, Shadow Complex will be the same visual mix of 2 and 3D.

Undertow.

It was a must buy for me already, but here we go....

Shadow Complex likely won't be less than $20

Quote:
While checking in with Epic's upcoming Xbox Live Arcade title Shadow Complex again today, we were given a nice little tidbit of info from Epic programmer Rob McLaughlin. While playing through the game's introductory level, we casually asked about a price for Unreal Engine 3-fueled shmup, to which Rob replied that the title would likely not see price point below $20.
In other words 1600 points, compared to the 800 of Undertow, you can tell(the these days greedy, IMO) Epic are on board If it does release at 1600 that'll be me out.

Re: Shadow Complex

They should release it as a non-arcade budget priced game or reduce the price of the game. As a reference point, I bought Fallout 3 for less than £20, Pure for just over a tenner etc fair enough they were reduced in stores to help shift sales but we never see these reductions on the marketplace and I would not pay anywhere close to the same price for an arcade game as I will a 'full' game.

I'll probably end up getting this - looks good. I just hope Epic don't try putting a shotgun in this...

I take your point, and I largely agree, but it's not entirely true. I believe Peggle was reduced from 1200 to 800 (or perhaps even 600) points for a while. It's just that reductions aren't always permanent, nor are they as widespread as with full price games. Off the top of my head, one of the only other examples I can think of is the Halo 3 DLC. Heroic is now free, and Legendary was reduced from 800 points to 600 quite a while back.

I less than three you, Bungie.

Re: Shadow Complex

Looks kinda like a spiritual upgrade of Another World/Flashback, loved those games so much when I were but a lad, can't wait for this to drop through the Arcade letter box, think I'll finally relent on my 'not paying over 800 points for an arcade game' and take the plunge, no doubt it'll drop in price at some point with that good old 'gold members 33% discount' but the more I re-watch these videos the more I want this now! lol

With the what now? Sounds interesting.

I'm also thinking about breaking my 1200 point stand-off, although that might happen a week earlier than this with Trials HD. Will wait for reviews before deciding(although seeing as I loved Undertow I have faith in this one being even better), still reluctant at that price for downloadable titles.

It just seems that the 1200 point games drop in price (granted it's taking about a year or so lol) but it seems to be semi-regular occurence. Maybe it's not and it's just looking that way to me hehe who knows? Not sure about the trials game, don't think it would keep me entertained for that long, this however looks to have me hooked. The sad thing it it's stupid wee things like the way the flashlight turns in 360 degrees that are doing it for me... Game have £5 off vouchers going so I've ordered 3 sets of points for £12 each the past few weeks so I'll likely be a bit more lax with my 'too-high, no-buy' views

Re: Shadow Complex

I don't mind paying 1200 for this one and TrialsHD and also Marvel vs Capcom as I saw an offer saying if you bought

Splosion Man
MvC2
TrialsHD
Shadow Complex
Turtles in Time

all before 31st August you get 800 points returned.

I had already bought Turtles, and a few of these I was seriously considering.

So buying them all works out at roundabout each of the 1200 games will be 1000 points - can live with this.

Whats up with that? I thought XBLA didnt show on the leaderboards until the game is released for all and how did 90 people get it? surely they can't all be devs/testers

I'm sure on the dash under spotlight or one of those it mentions the Summer Arcade offer of getting 800 points back. I'm at work so can't double check.
