Vista install on a 500Gb - Partition or not to Partition ?

I am going to be installing Vista tonight on my 500Gb drive and wondered if I should partition my drive into:

C - 50Gb - OS & Apps
D - 450Gb - DATA

I wondered (as I will be primarily using Media Centre) if I can change the location of "My Documents" and recorded TV etc to a different volume (as I used to be able to do with MCE 2005).

Reason being is that I fancy using some of these new Vista tools to take an image of the C: drive that I can restore any any point and then just do a normal file level copy (using ROBOCOPY) of the D: drive

Any thoughts ?

Re: Vista install on a 500Gb - Partition or not to Partition ?

Why not keep the 500GB HDD just for data. And buy a seperate HDD such as this Western Digital Raptor 74GB S150 16MB 10000RPM.

But yeah theres no reason why you can't partition your 500GB into 450GB (OS) and 50GB(DATA).

As for changing the locations, yeah you can do this. Just had a quick mess with Vista MCE and you can add different locations (sure you knew this anyway).

That's exactly what I'd do!

Yes, you can (and should)

I'd do the same thing with Ghost, but use ImageX if you're comfortable with it.
