Question Any developments on TopUpTV with MCE?

I've been searching around but can't find any answers.

Has anyone yet found a way of getting TopUpTV into MCE? I want to pay for a legit subscriber card - I'm not after any hacking.

I'll even buy a new DVB-T card if none of mine are compatible with it.

Any news...?

I've been looking into this the other day too and it seems that MCE can't decode the scrambled channels but 3rd party software can.

See the thread on the Hauppauge forums;

I may give this a try at some point.

I think the conclusion from that thread is that it won't work with MCE. That's how I read it anyway.

MCE doesn't support any kind of decryption. This is why it doesn't work with any normal card + CAM combination. I was thinking - why can't someone make an interface that will decrypt, then present MCE with the decrypted data? I asked firedtv this:

Hello. Would your Floppy DTV allow me to receive TopUpTV in Media Center?> If so then I want one!> > I have already noticed that Media Center DOES have the guide listings > available for the TopUpTv channels. It just needs someone to come up > with the hardware...> > I know MCE won't support card readers, but I wondered if yours works > differently, perhaps it decrypts then gives MCE the unencrypted data?> Please tell me it works!

They replied:

Sorry there is no stable verion available to enable TopUp TV in MCE.> > At present the restriction to use the CI module is a limitation in > MCE, we are working on ways to resolve this for TopUp TV.> > What we have is an external CI updater which sends decrypted data > through to MCE but this is still in beta.

Woohoo! I'll nag them every month 'til it's ready. If anyone else reading this is also after Topup TV then please do your bit and contact them from www.firedtv.co.uk Information>>Contact Us. We need to let them know that there is a demand for this.

Their floppy drive version looks very neat. Shame about the price, but I would pay that if I have to.

Now looking forward to recording some decent documentaries from Discovery.

Might also be worth looking at:

Not sure about MCE compatibility but might be worth asking.
