Burning DVDs with DTS/DD soundtrack

Firstly, apologies if this is the wrong forum.

For those of you who trawl all the sub-forums here - I'm the guy who has a Panasonic Home Cinema System which refuses (most of the time) to output DD5.1 via an Apacer HD Media Player box and WDTV Live box via an optical cable. Even an external DVD player won't play the soundtrack correctly. (See http://www.avforums.com/forums/strea...-new-post.html).

I'm going back to basics - more or less - but having trouble.

I've downloaded .mkv & .avi files which contain DD5.1 and/or DTS soundtracks. What software (free preferably) will burn these onto a DVD so that I can slip the DVD directly into the Panasonic and have the original soundtrack/s still there to select. I've tried many free conversion programs but the end result is just a stereo soundtrack.

You could try The Film Machine. I use it from time to time for similar conversions and know it is capable of passing through 5.1 Dolby Digital audio untouched. I can't remember if it can pass through DTS though, as I always convert this beforehand to Dolby Digital for compatibility reasons.

I remember that ConvertXtoDVD supports DTS passthrough, but it isn't free software.

Thanks Stevie. Trying TheFilmMachine. Crashes on Windows 7 with an OLE error, but is working so far on Windows 8 - cést la vie. Investigating ConvertXtoDVD as well. ConvertXtoDVD does the job perfectly and very quickly. A 4GB file burnt in under an hour with DD5.1 and DTS. TheFilmMachine I stopped after 2+ hours and still a long way to go. Thanks again.
