Hi John,

Have you ever been able to view Sky News HD?

I'm just trying to work out if this is a new occurrence with TV Source or perhaps a driver issue that WinTV miraculously knows how to get around.

Ben.

I've never had the Sky HD package so I don't know if I ever had either of those channels. I wouldn't be watching them see. It's unlikely to be a driver issue though, since my Terratec card can't see them either. And that uses a different driver.

My Technotrend DVB-S2 1600 finds all the channels, inc. Sky News HD with no probs. Though I did have to add the transponder information from Lyngsat

What settings did you manually add in? I just want to double check they are the same as mine.

I entered the following transponder details:

93=12460,H,29515,34,S2

* Don't forget to change:

0=(number of transponders)

In my case:

0=93

Hope it helps

I figured out what my acamd issue is. It's not picking up config changes that I make. Can anyone tell me how to force it to pick them up? Or how exactly this is even possible? Where is it getting the old settings from?

When I look at acamd monitor it says it's picking up the config from the correct cardclient.conf but it definitely isn't. It's trying to use a different username to log in than the one I have set in my cccamn line.

Could someone maybe point me to a guide for the latest version of acamd? I clearly don't have it set up properly.

Thanks,
John

Ok, another update. It seems Windows 7 is the problem. I deleted the contents of my Plugins folders and then went to extract the acamd 0618 rar into one of the Plugins folders and it says the files already exist and do I want to replace them. This is after a reboot as well. So it looks like windows keeps some kind of hidden copy of the files or something. My guess is it's because the Program Files folder and all subfolders are 'special' in Windows.

I'm going to uninstall the DVB software and install it somewhere else. What do I need to keep from my previous installations? For channels and my license stuff?

How very strange. I've tried the suggested frequencies to receive Sky News HD but there is no way I'm able to get it to work in either TV source or DVBViewer. Yet WinTv finds it.

What else could I try?

Yes. The only transponders that don't is the one with Sky News and the one with ESPN American HD and soon to launch Five.

Very strange!

Also this loaded up fine within TV Source. Looks like we may soon be able to wean ourselves off Digiguide!
Ben,

I noticed your name pop up on the DVBLogic support forum whilst I was trying to get EPG Collector to work. Is there a specific ini file needed in EPG Collector to get a weeks EPG directly from the stream? I cobbled an ini file together but only got one days worth of EPG data from 11778V.

I would ask on that thread or the XPMediacentre.com.au thread but it may be useful for other users here who want a good free EPG source.

Hello Delanoster,

I've been working with the developer of EPG Collector to try and get it working for Sky UK. In the process I've put together an INI file that works well, although it isn't complete yet. You should get 7 days worth of EPG from that frequency.

What version are you using? I know the earlier versions and potentially the one that is currently online doesn't download all of the EPG info, especially the HD channels.

If you drop me a PM I'm happy for you to give my ini a go but I don't know how much of a difference that will make.

A newer version that I'm testing works a lot better, but I'm not sure when Steve will be ready to release it as there are still a couple of issues being ironed out. My INI will be included in that release version so it should pretty much work as soon as you install it.

Ben.

Ben, sounds good I hope it get released soon as I am about to through DigiGuide out of the window because every time I try to configure only the channels I want it just defaults back to how it was originally configured So this would be a big bonus if this works out Ok.

Hi Ben,

I've had dvblink source configurator find the FiveHD channel - I'll update later with details of my transponder config so you can compare.

Jon this sounds like it might be the same as the problem I was having where my acamd config wouldn't change. Is it installed in the Program Files folder?

It is in the program folder on my WHS, I think it might be due to I am running DigiGuide as a service on an OS (server 2003) it isn't supposed to run on. But fingers crossed we can get EPG Collector working and I can throw DigiGuide in the great Bit Bucket.

I can now scan the transponder with Five HD and ESPN America HD. It is just Sky News HD that doesn't work! Below is the line from my Transponder file:

94=12460,H,29515,34,DVB-S2

I seem to be hitting a brick wall everywhere so will probably just give up!

Sorted!

Lyngsat listed the symbol rate incorrectly. This is the line that I have in my Transponder file and it now works! Hoooo-rah!

94=12460,H,29500,34,NBC-QPSK

I was just thinking how quiet it was the other day!

I really hoped BenRyder would spill some of the details in getting native Sly listings from the stream. That is the only problem area of my setup, inconsistent guide data. That and slow channel changes!

Listings from stream?

Easy -

1) google EPG Collector (sourceforge) - download it...
2) ...configure - will attach my file for Sky UK if its wanted (once I'm home)...
3) ...run it! It generates an XMLTV file which can be used directly into TVSource or you can process it through Big Screen EPG if you want series metadata.

4) if you use coloured listings in MC then you will need to spend time on mapping the EPG Collector generated category/genre tags in to MC ones (otherwise lots of things show up in the EPG as gold, i.e. a special program). See the DVBlogic forums for this.

Only downside is no date tag on movies and therefore no AMG lookup/dvd cover of films on TV.

My system is now setup so that it uses no Microsoft guide data at all (think I told it during setup I was in the Caymen Islands with 0 as my post code!) only the data therefore is imported through TVSource. Result: small EPG database and therefore quick display of EPG grid.

Edit: Just found out that there is a way of changing the category/genre tags in one of the EPG Collector ini files. I think this would be a better way than changing the mapping in TVSource.

Apologies - I've not really frequented this thread for a while.

Ask away.. although I do believe the software has been released now.

Download it from here:

EPG Collector | Download EPG Collector software for free at SourceForge.net

It should include a ini file for Sky UK with the installation, if not then mine is attached as a txt file - rename the suffix to '.ini'. It is configured for the Sky BBC England / ITV South region. To get your correct region you need to change the 'Channels:4097,5' line to one that matches your region from the 'Region Mapping OpenTV GBR.txt' also attached.

Just copy the ini file that into the main EPG Collector folder (make a backup of EPG Collector.ini) and replace/rename so it is called EPG Collector.ini

You need to run it with a tuner command first so it gives you a list of your available tuners. I think the command is 'epgcollector.exe /tuner' then make a note of the number next to the available tuners. You cannot use DVBLink virtual tuners.
So for example mine is the following:

Code:
Tuner:6,1
That means it will use Tuner 6 first, if that is busy will try tuner 1.

Then run the program! It will create a tvguide.xml file which just needs copying to the location TV Source uses for EPG. You then setup the EPG within TV Source as normal.
I have a batch file that I run twice a day - at 5am and 5pm and automatically copies to the correct file location. That is at home but I'll try to dig it out later on here - it isn't exactly a complicated batch file.

I think that is everything. Sorry for not posting earlier - I didn't actually know it had been released as I've not heard from the developer recently.

If you have any questions please feel free to ask - I shall pop my head back here more frequently now!

Cheers!

Ben.

Anyway, Mr Myers that is nonsense, guess due to my metioning certain software, you have wrongly assumed i'm one of these card-sharers using software similair to this to bypass encryption. However like your other posters here, i am trying to bypass nothing. I merely want to watch ONLY the channels that i always have, and always will pay for with my valid subscription, on only one viewing device. i do not wish to stop paying for my tv, or view anything i'm not entitled to/ or that i dont pay for. thanks.

as for the private messaging, that makes a lot of sense. - if i didn't know me as well as i do, i wouldn't trust me either.( lol, especially with a scouse acccent).

Within the confines of doing only legit stuff as mentioned in the sentence above, can anyone please offer any help to get my valid subscription card to get entitlement updates, as they run out in 3 days.
Via the blue/yellow "addons" buttons menus on my DB, ccam2.1.4 is not in the download list. can anyone offer help to find and install and configure CCam 2.1.4 or a good alternative so that my DB (with it's own sat feed) can update the entitlements and allow me to continue watching my legit, paid for subscribed to channels (without bypassing anything or breaking the law etc.) i would be most grateful.
thanks for your help guys.

Hi Paul,

I don't think cccam 2.1.4 appeared in my downloads either, so I manually downloaded it and then copied the file across to my DB and then performed a manual install from there.

If you need a hand with the config of it, let me know, and I'll pass across the files I use to decode our channels.

Hi All,

I'm trying to get my HTPC setup and have a few problems but I'll deal with them one at a time.

I have got the Dreambox setup using PLi Jade and CCCam 2.1.4 and I can view all the encrypted channels on my subscription, so this part is done.

I have installed TVSource 3.1 on the HTPC and gone through the setup, syncronised channels in media centre and got ACamd 6.1.8 working, so this part is ok.

The problem I have is that in the setup for TVSource when I scanned the channels for each different tuner they come up with 4 or 5 of the same channel. i.e Tuner1 has 5 Sky Sports 1 and Tuner2 has 5 Sky Sports1.

How do I choose which one to use, so I am left with one for each tuner which I can then merge.

Sorry for the waffle, any help appreciated.

Dan

The easiest way to choose between the different versions of the channels is to use Lyngsat. check the PID against the channel you want, e.g. Sky 1 UK or Sky 1 Ireland.
You should only have to scan with one tuner as TV Source then creates a template for the others.

Thanks Delanoster,

I've been on Lyngsat and clicked the link for Sky UK but the first channels it lists are RTE, am I looking at the wrong list.

Also you say check the PID but in TV Source config I dont see a PID?

Sorry but can you offer any more guidance

Dan
