Run-time error "13" Type mismatch

This is doing my head in. I run Windows XP Service Pack 3, and whenever I boot up into Windows, I get the run-time error message. If I OK it, it disappears and then pops up again in a few seconds. I don't try to open any programs, so it's not being triggered by anything obvious.
I've installed RegCure and run that a few times, but it hasn't sorted the problem.
Can't remember when it first happened. A few weeks ago. I tried a System restore to take it back to an earlier date, but that didn't work either.
Any ideas would be appreciated.

Have a look in the Event Viewer to see if it can give any clues as to which process is causing the issue. It may be a case or reregistering a DLL, but that could be like looking for a needle in a haystack.

Start/Settings/Control Panel/Admin. Tools/Event Viewer/

Re: Run-time error "13" Type mismatch

this should of been fixed in that service pack 3 you have (unless the service pack you have is first release).. have you searched updates for a hot-fix ..

Re: Run-time error "13" Type mismatch

Thanks for the input. I must confess I don't remember having the problem before Service pack 3 was installed, but I tried System Restore to a point before SP3 was installed, and that didn't cure the problem.
I was hoping £20 worth of RegCure would sort it, but it hasn't. Interestingly each time I run RegCure and fix things, on a rerun it still finds a whole load more issues to fix, so I might just try repeat runs to see if it can find the bug.

Re: Run-time error "13" Type mismatch

In my experience re-running things like RegCure is a recipe for disaster: I've had nothing but issues. I ran Spyware Doctor on a PC and "cleaned" the registry: PC wouldn't loead after that and wouldn;t restore properly. Use CCleaner instead.

Stay away from ALL registry scanners, they do more harm than good. In some cases, all they do is damage!

Re: Run-time error "13" Type mismatch

Agreed. CCleaner is the best of a bad bunch.

Re: Run-time error "13" Type mismatch

Wait for it....here it comes.....

I use CCleaner all the time and I have never had a problem (done it now, probably kill my system next time I run it)
