Windows Vista Media Center - can it be improved ?

To be blunt - its a bit rubbish

To cluttered a front end and seems rather sluggish

Also - after adding my video files the "folder" icon does not fit the size of the folders and it looks awful

I use XBMC day in day out - anyway of getting Media Center to work more like that ?

Can you get rid of what you dont need ?
Can you customise how it looks ?
Can you actually make folder icons fit ?

I don't really understand why anyone uses any sort of "Media Centre" on a PC, if it isn't for the recording functions.

I just use an old MCE remote and receiver on XP, and play all my media with Zoomplayer and TheaterTek. Easy navigation, supremely configurable, totally compatible and will play any media file anywhere on any drive.
