Exclamation Vista dvb tuner problems

Hi

I've just upgraded to vista ultimate and have encountered problems viewing sky+ on media centre

My tuner card (avermedia hybrid DVB/pal) is recognised but media centre only gives me the option of scanning for channels using the DVB part of the card (ie freeview channels) .All I want to do is transfer some of my sky + recordings to my pc.

On Xp setting up Media centre it gave you options as how to record tv (cable Antenna etc) Surely Vista must do the same ????

Can anybody out there help as I'm tearing my hair out (and can't really afford to loose any more !!!!)

Thanks in Advance

Re: Vista dvb tuner problems

There may be an issue with hybrid cards in Vista, I am not sure. One thing I am aware of is that using drivers from the card manufacturers site often works better than allowing Vista to download them from Windows Update. If I am wrong about Vista and hybrids then that is your next best bet.

Re: Vista dvb tuner problems

I'm really confused aboutwhat the OP is trying to achieve.

Firstly, you can have either digital or analogue tuners in Media Center - not both.

Second, you want to use a video capture card to capture from a Sky+ box? I thought Sky+ only had S-video out. Were you ever able to do this using your card?

Re: Vista dvb tuner problems

Maybe the imature vista drivers for you card, I have the same problem with a Compro T200. Dvb-t but no mention of the analogue side.

Stiggy :

You just plug the svideo into the capture card? (analogue)

Re: Vista dvb tuner problems

I have an Asus hybrid card and I haven't been able to get it working with vista media center yet. It will work with their own software, but not with Media Center. It will also work with other "third party" software, but not MS.

Its really frustrating, but CableMunkey seems to have a point there.

As regards SKy+, then if your card, like mine, as S-Video in, then you're sorted - just connect Sky+ through that instead. This does work brilliantly!

Only if the analogue TV capture portion of the card is actually supported in Vista Media Center i.e. it has an on-board MPEG2 hardware encoder.
