Setting up SKY+ Live TV without MCE receiver

I have a LC16 with built in MCE receiver (but no IR blasters). I also have an external MCE receiver (USB) with IR blasters.

I have no need for the blasters as I only use my HTPC to archive from SKY+ and never watch TV on it or have any need to change channels. I also have a Slingbox so I can watch TV remotely using that if I want to.

The MCE receiver also doesnt work following resume from Sleep so I really dont want to plug it in. (http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/929734)

Anyone know how to setup Vista without the blasters ? Can I use cable TV channel rather than set top box ? Is there a registry change I can make ?

Setup stops with a message "no IR blasters are connected. Cannot control STB" or something then wont go any further. Have also installed it with the blasters connected then removed them, but I then get an error when I go to Live TV saying they are not connected.
