Gmail issues

Im new to windows coming from an iPhone 4 to a lumia 710, upon first setu my emails were working fine, now it's saying it needs attention, I'm stuck here and really need help.

Try go to settings and untick contacts and calendar.

My girlfriend has this problem on her gmail but it was fixed with a past update and now syncs everything.

Also if your gmail account is very old try @googlemail.com rather than gmail.com

Ah there we go. I am sure this is a bug that was fixed. Have you tried looking for updates?

Yeah I updated yesterday for the first time (new phone) and it deleted all m contacts!
