Unable to uninstall Nvidia driver.

I have a strange issue when trying to uninstall the graphics drivers for a Dell XPS M1730 laptop.

I have tried to uninstall them from the add/remove programs but it just hangs (I left it for about 30 minutes).

Next I tried to uninstall from device manager but It came up with the message that it 'cannot remove drivers as It might be needed to boot the computer'.

I have tried both methods in safe mode to no avail.

The laptop is running MCE.

Any ideas fellas?.

Thanks.

Re: Unable to uninstall Nvidia driver.

You could try and see if you can uninstal the driver through CCleaner or see if Driversweeper can do it, both programs can be found easily enough with a Google search.

Re: Unable to uninstall Nvidia driver.

Thanks for the reply curly, I have both programmes installed already but CCleaner fails to uninstall it too and I believe driversweeper just get's rid of driver remnants after the initial driver uninstall, but I may be wrong.

I think I will have to go with re-formatting the hard drive.
