TV aspect ratio?

Hi, I had a twin tuner setup in an old p4 advent pc/mce 2005 with a no name agp gfx card.

It was connected to mt pwd6 panasonic plasma and set to 1280 x 720 and it managed to fill the screen with widescreen programs but also 4:3 would fit the full screen also.

Now I have built a new pc with a smaller case. Its better spec using an ath 64 and a micro atc mb and a new ati x550 pci-e gfx card. Now it shows widescreen programs fine at the same resolution but 4:3 programs now show only with border at each side. This was when viewing simpsons on c4 last night plus any other 4:3 stuff are the same.

Why would it do this when it did not before at the same resolution? Is it my gfx card? The plasma will not let me stretch it either.

Is there a way of fixing it so it will stretch them?

Cheers

Simon.

are you joking?

it is fixed, 4:3 should have black bars, why anyone wants to distort an image and stretch it or cut bits off is beyond me

leave it as it is, it's working fine and you're seeing the image as it's intended

Re: TV aspect ratio?

Have you tried pressing the i button on the MCE remote and selecting Zoom, 1, 2, 3 or 4. one of those should have the desired affect.

Lol, I have had that response from a few m8's too. It never looked distorted to be honest but it must have had some missing as you say.

The pic quality is so much better though with the new set up.

I will see if it looks funny and how much is missing when i zoom too.

Thanks for the replies.
