Hauppauge HVR110 B&W issue

Hi all ,

I'm still stuck on this one, I've been on to Hauppage directly and I'm not holding my breath for someone to come back, hopefully they will. I have included all the varous files etc here that hauppauge say should be included with a request, hopefully someone can help.
here goes

My reception is very poor,
I am using an NTL digital box that outputs to scart, i use a break out that gives me S video and composite from the NTL box, my TV takes both of these inputs directly and I can view the results very well. My TV can split inputs on the screen so i can compare the composite and the s video results, they are very similar and both work at the same time.

The above info should rule out any s video, composite, lead etc issues
I also have a standard analogue connection available to the card.

therefore I have an analoge connectioning entering the card and an S Video and a composite. The result is the same for all three inputs black and white and the frame rate is too slow, the sound is fine. I get about 40 extra stations on from the SVIDEO/Compsoite side of the NTL box,
I am only using the analogue pass through to check the system without the NTL box, i.e to removed it from the equation to see if it is the cause.

The reception is bad in Win200 mode and when i go into media center
Its bad with or without the NTL box
Its bad on composite, S Video and the standard analogue connection.
Auto update is running on my Pc and WMC 2005 is up to date

Basially all the inputs produce very poor picture quality

My PC is a new build
HVR 1100 Hybrid card
2 GB Ram
2 x 250 GB Segate SATA 2 HD
3800 x2 Athlon 64
GF 7800 GT graphics card
ASUS A8N premium MB c/w on board sound
Running Windows Media center 2005

Any help would be greatly appreciated, I have read throught the forum to see if i could find an answer but I cant. I have e mailed Hauppauge and have not received a reply, I started ordering the parts last september and i have my gaming/media centre all working now except for this.

Does the NTL box definately output S-Video over SCART? It's possible that you're only really getting Composite on the S-Video lead too, but your TV is treating it as Composite whereas the HVR is treating it as S-Video (which technically it isn't, if this is the case).

im not sure, either are NTL, like i said composite would do me anyway and i have composite entering the box, and I have a standard RF signal going straight into the card bypassing the NTL box and its also poor,

i rang tech support today, they told me to try drivers 2.1 2.4 and 3.1 and see if any of them work

I got it working on RF and composite last night,

Spybot was preventing a complete reg clear when wiping the old drivers, i installed the latest drivers with spybot off and it worked, still the quality is well off the signal to the TV ( also composite) but it was progress, would you expect a significant quaity loss?
