Elonex Artisan LX into TV picture quality

Hi all,

My friend is running the above Media Centre via S Video into his Toshiba 36" CRT TV.

The picture is quite blurred and poor quality, can anyone suggest any ways of improving this, or is it simply due to the fact that he is running into a SD TV and not HD?

Would an upgrade in graphics card make an improvement?

Any help appreciated,

regards.

S-Video isn't the best signal to use. I don't know much about the Elonex but is there an RGB SCART output on them ?

No scart, SVideo is the best that you are going to get on a SD CRT TV, as was asked on your other thread is the problem with the desktop and PC stuff or within MCE itself?

JonMace, I disagree.

You can use an VGA-SCART cable with custom Powerstrip settings to give a far superior output picture, as long as you use an ATI Radeon gfx card.

If the Elonex has an Nvidia card, I'd thoroughly recommend getting hold of a Radeon 9200 (or better), a custom Radeon VGA-Scart cable from Keene Electronics and Powerstrip.

A very long but detailed thread on the subject can be found here;

VGA - Scart RGB?

I use this set up with a 9600 Pro and using Nvidia PureVideo decoder and the latest drivers for GFX and DVB-T card, the picture is A1, so much so that the mpeg compression artefacts on some channels/progs is sometimes quite annoying.
