Question Tuner confusion

I'm expecting a part built media center to be delivered tomorrow and will be adding my own second tuner to the set up in order to send my Telewest's cable signal to MCE.
However looking at this forum's "Sticky" I get the feeling that I might be expecting more from it than it will actually be able to deliver.
It will have an Hauppauge WinTV Nova-T for freeview and a second tuner in the form of the Hauppauge PVR-150 Analogue TV Card which will take my cable box.

I was hoping that I could watch something on cable and then record something from the freeview tuner at the same time and vice versa, but this paragraph about mixing analogue and digital tuners has me wondering if this is not possible:

""Can I have an two analogue or two digital cards so that I can watch one thing and record another?

Yes, but you cannot mix and match the two. Either two digital, or two analogue. You cannot have an analogue and a digital card simultaneously to watch e.g. sky digital via the analogue card and a freeview channel via the digital card.""

So am I right or mis-reading this?

And just one other thing, what sort of cable connection do I need to go from the Scientific Atlanta Explorer 4000 to the Pc (telewest)? and do I need any conversion box, again I have seen this mentioned in the forum but I don't seem to have come across a clear answer, but apologies if someone has posted this already.

Can't mix and match delivery formats. ie cable, satellite, freeview, analogue...

You could try mediaportal if thats what you really want to do. It looks like XP MCE and its free too! http://mediaportal.sourceforge.net

its primarily due to MCE only being able to support one EPG at a time.

I've got round it by having the analogue card running through MCE, this one will eventually take my cable boxes signal, and the freeview card runs via the XP O/S and Hauppages own software.

The cable box is connected and I can see a great looking preview picture whilst configuring the signal, just can't finish it off as MCE does not want to know the Telewest remote, so far it only recognises the zero button!
So if anyone has an answer as to how to get the UP Channel button recognised I'll be eternally gratefull!

All I keep seeing is "you pressed the [0] button again" !

You might need an IR>IRDA translator, such as the Red Eye for the Telewest box;
