Best way to back up my MCE install

The last time i backed up my system was a few months ago
(i know i know!)

Now I have a very stable set up that I would like to keep
everything is on the C:\ drive incl 75 gigs of unwatched TV progs

What would be the most painless way to back up my system without having to get rid of the TV progs i have recorded but not include them in the back up.

I was thinking of copying all the TV shows over to my other PC via the network , doing an acronis back up and then copying them back again.

Has anyone got a better solution

What format are your TV progs stored in?

I'm not familiar with Acronis (Trueimage?) but i'd have thought it would be possible to exclude specific directories from the backup..

you can exclude directories/file types with ghost, so I'd assume the other backup software would allow this too?

they are all in the MCE Tv drms(?) format

My advice would be to copy the TV programs to the other PC, take a Ghost image of what's left, reformat and repartition your hard drive to two partitions at 15GB for C: and the remainder for D:. Then put the the ghost image back onto C: and copy your TV data back to D:. Then continue to store all your media/data on D: leaving C: for the system, making your backups and restores easier.

i am thinking of taking this route it just seems convoluted
, wish i had partioned the drive when i started

Just use partition magic to add another partitiion, first copy all ur tv stuff to another drive then make an additional partition with the blank space, copy tv stuff back to new partition and youre done.

You can backup the PC with Norton Ghost 9.0 then boot off the ghost CD and restotre the backup. You should be able to resize the target partition at restore time.
