XP MCE 2005 Installation...

Hey, just wondering as I'm wanting to buy mce 2005, is this an add on to your current XP os? like I have XP Pro setup now so would i just put the mce cd's in and install or is it a new OS that has XP features on it?

Thanks for any help, sorry for sounding dumb, can't help myself

MCE 2005 is a complete OS, so once installed it gives you Win XP Pro (minus some of the advance network options-someone correct me if i'm wrong), then once you boot into XP you can run the Media Center front end (or run it at startup).

MCE2005 is a full-blown version of Windows XP + SP2, but comes with a 2nd CD of add-ons. The additional installation of the MCE add-ons is enabled via your product key. Also, the networking features are all there, apart from teh ability to join your PC to a domain. This can be attempted during setup, but if you skip it, the only way to join a domain is to re-install.
