MCE2005 The EPG Heebie jeebies!
I have mentioned this before but what I thought would be a minor teething problem has now taken on a new significance.
My guide virtually refuses to list any programs bar the odd one or two for what I'd describe as minor channels.
I have retuned lord knows how many times, specified different transmitters (my Aerial is pointed squarely at the transmitter on the Isle of Wight - Rowridge) to see what effect this would have.... I have a broadband wireless network which works properly...... I even have that MCE customiser program.
I go to settings and update, it says download succesful.... but there is 'no data available'.
So, is this something to do with a time not set up correctly somewhere? If the EPG say's it's downloaded but there's no data..... parhaps that means that there's no data available for the time and date on my PC (although the guide shows current date and time... )
Any help or pointers gratefuly received please.
Thanks,
Jon.

Have you tried adding the guide data to the channels? Sounds a bit odd I'll admit but its something that crops up every now & then for dvb-t users. The list of bbc1\bbc2\itv\etc programs can become detacted from BBC1\BBC2\ITV channels etc - in effect the PC has both bits of info but looses the link between them, this can result in blank guide data even though guide data downloads seem to complete sucessfully.
To check - go to settings, tv, guide, add guide to channel (or something like that) - you'll see the list of channels your setup can use, clicking on each channel brings up a list of possible guide channels to use. I've found that if the list of receivable channels reads just basic names then the guide data just needs to be re-attached, if it reads with a full regional description (for channels with regional variations) then its probably all ok (eg "BBC1" vs "BBC1 South East").

There are issues with the EPG associated with channel name changes. The EPG and MCE cannot handle these changes and will sometimes loose channel information so the EPG will not work properly. This can particularly be a pain when you have a series recording and there is a name change which can lead to failed recordings or peculiar error messages. This happened to a number of people recently when Men and Motors was added to the line up. Microsoft in their wisdom did not expect channel names and line up to change. Lisag, this may be what happened to you.
Another issue that some experience is that changes in signal strength can cause channels that were visible to disappear. We have some customers that have had this issue and by adding an aerial amplifier have fixed it.
Don't know if either of these help just a couple of suggestions.
