I've used the second remote on wii sports loads but for some reason it wont work on any of the wii ware games I've downloaded! (also wouldn't work on wii fit 2p jogging) have tried re-syncing it but it still wont work.....any ideas?

When you say you've re-synched do you mean the method where you press the red button behind the SD card slot of your Wii and then the red button in the battery compartment of the wiimote?
