Wild West Guns

Title: Wild West Guns
Format: WiiWare
Price: 1000 Wii Points
Requirements: 309 free blocks, Wiimote

Yeehaw! Gameloft have brought a rip roaring, rootin' tootin' shooter to WiiWare. Firstly, this is a shooting gallery game, you have to shoot sheriff badges, vultures, cowboys & indians, sombraros, and all manner of other stereotyped western stuff.

The game is presented in a cell-shaded style, which looks good, if slightly blocky round the edges. It's certainly good looking, the music adds a bit of western atmosphere, and it's actually really good fun. Expect to leave your brain at the door, but it's unashamedly simple shooting fun.

A little strategy comes into the game via the scoring system, which rewards you for selecting your shots carefully, rather than just firing at anything, as you get multipliers for hitting the target each time in a row, and for headshots etc.

I picked up one of those perfect shot guns at the weekend with House of the Dead II&III Return, and being honest, I've actually played Wild West Guns a lot more. It's great fun. Even the wife's had a several games, and she hates computer games. There are only 6 levels, but each level is split into different 3 stages, so there's plenty to do.

If you're looking for a fun shooter to use with your lightgun (works great with just the Wiimote on its own too), then for 1000 points, Wild West Guns is good value for money, and one game that will be residing in my Wii's memory for some time to come. 8/10

Re: Wild West Guns

Yup, very good game - I actually prefer it to HOTD2/3 at the moment, but Ghost Squad still my No.1 lightgun game.

Anyways, lots of variety within this, 2 player co-op/vs and an 'achievement' style system.

And as the OP said, you really have to pick your shots, otherwise you will not clear the levels - becomes very tense picking off headshots when the screen is full of the bad guys!

Re: Wild West Guns

Defo a very good gun game, to be honest I was surprised just how addictive it really is.

Still can't complete the last level though, those poor wabbits keeping getting attacked from above and below now.
