Space Invaders Get Even

Being released this Friday onto the European WiiWare service, pretty envious of you lot as this game looks great.

Only 500 points, although that is the base pack(apparently one stage only!), the full game will cost 2000 with the three additional download packs @500 points each.

Space Invaders Get Even (WiiWare)

Quote:
The origins of the game lie with the original classic arcade game Space Invaders of course. However, Space Invaders Get Even puts a twist on the formula by letting the player control the space invaders themselves!

Unlike the original game and its spin-offs, Space Invaders Get Even sees players piloting the UFO across a landscape rendered in 3D graphics, which encompasses areas such as cities, forests, oceans and military bases. Players move the UFO with the Nunchuk, and then use the pointer function of the Wiimote to direct a swarm of up to 100 invaders in blowing up buildings and destroying the defending forces of Earth.

The invaders, which are rendered as flat, glowing two dimensional sprites which resemble the invaders in the original game, are split into three types, each with different attributes.Upon eliminating all opposition in the stage, the player must then take on a large boss, which include a giant tank and a huge battleship.

Re: Space Invaders Get Even

Don't like the look of that at all, seems too far removed and a distant relative of the original game, i think a souped up version along the lines of the ds's Space Invaders Extreme would have been much better.

Still someone's bound to like it and hey what do i know.

Re: Space Invaders Get Even

Well it was very well recieved by wiiwareworld, they scored it 8/10 in their review(despite the hefty price for the full game, apparently it was going to be a retail release which explains it).

Anyone here purchase it then to share their thoughts? Expected it to release on US WiiWare today but apparently not. Unsure if I'll purchase this game or not when it does appear though, damn I wish WiiWare would give us playable demos!

Re: Space Invaders Get Even

The gameplay itself is a bit light, with you slowly moving up the screen with a couple of options on how you blow things up. There is not a lot of challenge in the levels and I was a bit diappointed at the lack of levels and extras on the basic game.
It's more like a demo which costs with the extra gameplay costing approx another 1500 wii points to get the full game.

Re: Space Invaders Get Even

I find it to be quite enjoyable, nice for sneaking 10 minute between doing something else. Extensive play however will cause wrist pain on your wiimote hand.
Might consider getting the addon once I try it out at a friend's place.
