Toki Tori

Just been reading about this game, apparently confirmed to release with the US WiiWare launch(May 12th).

Looks & sounds pretty decent, never got to try out the GBA version but the screens & video remind me slightly of Cloning Clyde on XBLA which I loved(also a platform/puzzle so maybe there are similarities). One of the few WiiWare titles that have caught my eye so far(not really enthusiastic about the large amount of PC flash game re-releases).

Toki Tori for Nintendo Wii marks the entry of Two Tribes into the world of console games. Based on the critically acclaimed Game Boy Color game, this update improves the original on every front.

Sporting a new look, updated content and a completely overhauled Wii Remote control scheme, the game offers players of all ages a classic gaming experience while making the most out of Nintendo’s Wii console.

The gameplay in Toki Tori is a blend of two genres. While it looks like a platform game, it’s a puzzle game by heart. Players will have to look and plan ahead carefully while using a variety of items, such as the Telewarp, Freeze-o-Matic and InstantRockTM to name but a few.

Toki Tori will be made available through Nintendo’s WiiWare service, which is scheduled to launch on the 12th of May in the USA.
No announcement on price yet from what I can see, guessing it'll be between 800 & 1,000 Wii Points.

It certainly looks very interesting. I love platform games as well as puzzle games and this looks like a great combination of the two. Depending on the price it should be worth getting.

Am I the only one who has bought this? Odd .. .. .. because for 900 Wii points it's not half bad. Side on puzzle / platform game that has been updated from the GBC version .. .. .. .. Neat little package and worth every one of the 630 pennies that it costs.. .. .. .. even if you only ever play the first level to see the victory waddle .. .. ..

I'll probably be downloading it on monday if it get's released, not available to the US yet bizarely.

Been getting some great reviews so it is surprising that it seems to be getting overlooked.

Re: Toki Tori

Two Tribes were behind the DS Worms2 which was brilliant so I've gone for it just off that fact.

& you know what, it's brilliant! just done a couple of the tutorial starter levels & even they had me scratching my head, lord knows how tricky they're gonna get. 70 levels in all. Graphics & sound are really nice. Thumbs up here.

Re: Toki Tori

I've puzzled my way through to the slimy sewer but I've not tried many of the 'hard' levels .. .. .. I'll save those for when I'm truly out of ideas with the 'normal' ones.. .. .. .. The feeling of satisfaction when I work out a level that has had me foxed is superb!!

I've found that the levels that give you more of the different 'actions' are trickier than those that have a very limited number, but that's just the way my mind works .. .. .. still loving the victory waddle

Re: Toki Tori

Thanx for the Wiimail Captain .

I d/l this today and find it really good fun. If you like Mario Vs Donkey Kong, then you'll love this .
I initially found it relatively easy (1hr 20m to get through the first woodland world and halfway through the second castle world), but suddenly ran up against a real head scratcher - stopped me stone cold dead in my tracks (level 6 in Creepy Castle world).

Hopefully the rest of the levels will be just as hard ......give me something to "chew on" .

As an aside, I lasted not even one level before i had to resort to adding the nunchuk , is everyone else using just the wiimote or are there others out there who prefer the "better (imho)" control of adding the 'chuk?
