Re: Wii hookup with Onkyo 705 & Samsung 850 LCD.

The cable the Wii comes with is composite. This includes a yellow phono connector for video and red and white ones for audio. The composite connection on your TV should have three sets of inputs the same colours. Have you connected all three to the set of composite inputs. The other option is to use the scart adapter that is also included to connect to a scart connection on the TV. You don't need to go through your amp although you can if you want to get Dolby Pro-Logic II sound assuming your amp supports it.

If you pop Onkyo into the search tab of this forum you'll find alot of various threads related with thatbrand of amp/receiver, not sure if your problem is covered within them but there might be some handy info for you.

Re: Wii hookup with Onkyo 705 & Samsung 850 LCD.

Plug the wii into a component input carry out the following:

Turn amp on.

Press setup.

Press 'enter' when 'in/out assign' is displayed.

Press down twice on the remote or the dial on the front of the amp (left of volume). 'Component input' should now be displayed.

Press 'enter'.

Press 'down' on remote or the dial until the correct input is selected (DVD, Game etc). (if moving an input from HDMI to component and vice versa you will have to deselect the original input first).

Press 'right on the remote or the dial until the correct component input is selected.

Press 'return' to finish.

The above procedure can be done with both the HDMI and digital inputs also.
