It seems controllers are in short supply and I'm having trouble finding one. Anyone know anywhere with them in stock?

If not I'll just have to wait for the UK launch and have a walk around the shops to try and find one.
When did you place your preorder for the Wii with them ? Did you get an email from them recently as to where you were in the que ?

I'm curious as I got an email from them last week that I missed the first batch they got that shipped earlier this week but that I was sixth in the que and they would be getting more this week between tuesday and friday. I haven't heard anything from since then. Hopefully they will have got some in today or tomorrow and my order will be in there.

I placed the order pretty much as soon as it was added to the site. They emailed in advance saying what time they were adding it so I sat there refreshing the page waiting to order it.

I never got an email telling me my place I was in the queue. They emailed last week saying it would be sent on Wednesday or Thursday and then I got an email yesterday saying it had been shipped.

Mdkdue, I'm positioning myself to make a bid on your wii!! Ater 2 days of trauling ebay it seems that your wii represent not bad value for moeny. Like you say just a shame zelda never showed up.

Re: My USA Wii has shipped from DVDBoxofffice!

Well mdkdue it got a bit to expensive for me, in the end it went upto £255 which isnt a bad price but its a bit more than I am willing to pay. You've done well there.

I think I'll keep trauling ebay for a bargain, hopefully once the UK wii comes out the demand will drop off for USA wii's and I will be able to get one. Either that or I will get a UK wii in 2 weeks time.

Well done MDKDUE, nice bit of ebaying!!

Re: My USA Wii has shipped from DVDBoxofffice!

I am having my Wii shipped from the USA - won at ebay USA - for 192 pounds. It will be marked as a gift with a low value, so that's all I am gonna pay for it. If anyone wants a USA Wii check out ebay USA and negotiate with the seller about shipping/taxes etc.

At today’s exchange rate a US Wii costs £129.39. VAT would be 17.5% and import duties 3% which brings to total to £155.91. I think the FedEx import duties calculation fee is £14 on top of the duties which comes to £169.91 and then there’s the shipping on top of that which converts to £31.94 giving a total of £201.85.

If you can avoid import duties the eBay price is rather good, though I’m not sure if that includes shipping. Either way it’s going to work out more expensive to get an importuned console but it’s well worth the extra to avoid paying crappy PAL games and the games are also cheaper so in the long run it works out cheaper.

I got my Wii this morning but the import duties bill doesn’t turn up for a while after. I don’t know why they don’t save themselves some time and money and give you the bill with the package.

I can't decide whether to import one or not tbh, there's a few limitations with doing so isn't there?

Re: My USA Wii has shipped from DVDBoxofffice!

You say 'crappy PAL games'. I think the days of 17.5% slower games and huge borders are gone. My PAL xbox 360 for example is absolutely fine. 60hz, no borders, full speed...

Things have changed...i think the UK Wii will be fine......

There is also Nintendo's release schedule policy to consider. Time and time again in the past they have released games much sooner in the US then here. I don't see that changing any time soon. That and the price of import games being cheaper gives me enough reason to import all my consoles.

Re: My USA Wii has shipped from DVDBoxofffice!

Thanks David, that’s worth knowing. Whether it’s a good deal depends on whether you get charged customs fees or not. I used to buy my consoles over eBay but started to find it hard to find sellers who were customs friendly. Their shipping is generally cheaper because they don’t insist on using a courier that charge high delivery fees and then more excessive fees for calculating duties. I’ll have to look at what’s available on eBay for the PS3 once the supply problems are resolved and it starts selling for a reasonable price.

By the way the PSU says “Input: AC 120V 52W 60Hz” so it looks like you’ll need a step down converter.

Yeah, I agreed with the seller to put a low value/gift on the item, so I have a really big chance of an import free Wii. I already have a Jap DC/USA GC and more so I have a stepdown converter in my hands.

Re: My USA Wii has shipped from DVDBoxofffice!

my plans to import a wii took a strange turn yesterday. i broke my leg playing football, i am typing this from my hospital bed (internet access to hospital beds, nice!!).
so i might get a uk wii, or a usa one! i want to ebay a console in to the uk but if i get hit with import duty its all a waste of time. i have always had import nintendo consoles (except the handhelds) so buying a uk wii doesnt seem right. I think i might wait for the uk release and see if that drops the price in ravens or whether the ebay prices for a usa wii come down to a steal.

At least when i finally get a wii i will have plenty of time to play it, although dont think i will be standing up doing the full motions for wiisports!

From what ive seen playing Wii games you really need to stand up (tennis etc), how you going to do that on crutches?, your better off getting yourself an Xbox 360 that way you dont even have to get off the couch to turn it on or off!

I really was not expecting to get one and because of that i have also bought a UK machine from Argos (and paid for it!)

I guess all that remains now is to see how the online stuff works...if all is ok then i will be getting a refund for the UK one, if not, then there will be a US machine on ebay very soon!
I ordered 6 items of their site and never recieved any of them ever so good luck.

Re: My USA Wii has shipped from DVDBoxofffice!

I also preordered my Wii from DVDBO, but i did it on Nov 2 I dont know if it will come fast, cause i live in U.S. DVDBO said that they already filled 1/3 of the preorders in one "small' shipment. I think we will all have our Wiis by XMAS. So how many people got there Wii from DVDBO already, or know its coming? We can only wait

Well I ordered with them late, 18th, and I was told I should get it for Xmas.

Though this may have been spin. I'd be interested to know if many people have got theirs from DVD BO

Re: My USA Wii has shipped from DVDBoxofffice!

Well the status of my preorder at Videogameplus has gone to "Wii preorder no cancellation". I also recieved an email to that affect. Apparently it's going to ship in the next day or two. Hopefully as long as it doesn't get stuck in customs I should have it by the end of the week. My copies of Super Monkey Ball and Excite Truck shipped from else where today and Zelda will come with the console. I'm really excited and can't wait for it to get here.

Re: My USA Wii has shipped from DVDBoxofffice!

Had my US wii now since the 19th(i picked one up in Vegas).

Did the online update which worked ok. After the update you have to select a country but can only choose between north and south american locations so selected united states.

Bought some Wii points which i sucessfully added to my Wii and downloaded Zelda for the NES which took about 3minutes or so. This works fine with an old gamecube wavebird

You can add Wii points by using your credit card but i cannot get this to work as it asks for a US address. Even if i put in a US address i assume it checks with your billing address with your credit card company so fails.

Bought Zelda, Trauma Center, Raving Rabbits, Red Steel and Excite Truck but only played them breifly. Also got a second remote, nunchuk and the classic controller, plus 2000 wii points.

The photo channel is pretty good and seems to read the photos relly quickly, it also plays .Mov files and MP3's.

Cheers, Jason

Set your country settings to Brazil temporarily. You will then be able to buy points online as it lets you put in a vaild postcode.
Once you have bought them you can then set it back to US.
Sorted!

(Starting to wish i'd not sold my US Wii )
