connection help please

Hi,

I have just dug out the cupboard my 2 year old wii. I only used it about 10 times on my old CRT. I know have a panny pz80 and onkyo 805.

Can you tell me how best to set it up, the lead I have with it seems like composite (I think it is yellow,white red or something). My TV only has component and not sure about the amp as I only have HDMI kit connected at the moment.

Is the standard lead that comes with it, ok to use? as it seems like you have no choice as it isn't a standard lead as it has a wii specific connection on the console end. I have several spare component and hdmi lead but cannot see how these could connect to the console.

But then from memory the graphics seem very pixilated and block like anyway (well wii sports is all I have played), so does it really matter about the connections, as the graphics are poor anyway and don't do a 1080p screen justice anyway?

any thoughts on how to best connect, or advice on whether you can get upgraded leads and if so, if it is worth it. I presume if I cannot connect through amp, then I will need a composite to scart connector and just plug into screen.

You can buy a component lead for it mate. Play i think it was were selling them for about £2 in the sale.

You'll get 480p using component, its not "HD" but its a much better picture than using composite.

I find it strange that your TV does not have composite inputs as they are typically standard on all TVs. Having said that if it has a SCART connection then you could use that with a SCART adapter which would have come with the Wii. However I would recommend investing in an official component cable but only if you're going to use the Wii regularly.

If it was £2 then it couldn't have been the official one. IMHO the only component cable worth getting is the official one.

I have the PZ80, it is correct that you will need a SCART adaptor for composite, but well worth geting a component lead.
There is a slight improvement in picture quality with that too.
