Question Wii/Onkyo 607

Hi

My g/f is waiting for delivery of her Onkyo 607. Currently she connects her Wii with the red/white/yellow connections, dont know what that lead is called lol. When the Onkyo arrives, would this lead be fine or would it be best to buy the Wii component lead with the red/blue/green/red/white connections?

Thanks

Baz

Re: Wii/Onkyo 607

Wii with the red/white/yellow connections, known as composite, the worse connection known to man!
Component is far better but does the TV accept Component?

Hi

Yeah the TV is a Panasonic TX-P50V10B and accepts component connections. Is it better to conect the component cable to the TV or the Onkyo 607?

Re: Wii/Onkyo 607

Hi Baz,

Without a doubt get a component cable to link the Wii to the Onkyo/TV, makes a noticable difference!!! From to (although not quite the of HD gaming).

If you've got surround sound setup then send it to the Onkyo as most Wii games use Pro-logic(II), Guitar Hero has a pretty cool effect when you get star power (even in Pro-logic). Otherwise, just send it straight to the tv.

I bought a Game one (for about half the price of the official one) and it's well worth the money.

Hi

Thx for that, this is a link to a pic of the back of the Onkyo 607

http://www.eu.onkyo.com/ir_img/21235437_79ac314306.jpg

Do I connect the green/blue/red to either component video in 1 or 2 and the red/white cable is it connected to the red/white in connections where its marked game?

Either, what ever suits you. Then assign a stereo input to be associated with either Video 1 or 2.

Re: Wii/Onkyo 607

With the Onkyo you choose the input you wish to use (e.g. Game), place the audio connetions there and the video connections into one of the component video sections. On the Onkyo's menu, you then assign the component video to the input.

You then need to set the surround sound mode to your prefered Dolby Pro-logic II setting and away you go...

As a certain meer-kat says "simples".

This is how i've currently got my Wii setup with my amp and TV:

Wii >> Component Cable
Video cables (red/blue/green) into TV
Audio cables (red/white) into one of these
Then the two male plugs from the extension go straight into the back of my amp in one of the phono connections.

Hope that helps

Hi

Would it not be best to connect the Wii component cable to the amp instead of the TV or just having the component cable connected to the TV?

5) Press left or right to your desired setting mines IN2
6) Set your Wii to 480p in the Wii menu

Hi

Thx for that, regarding the component connections. Green, blue, red I will connect and assign to eg. (In 1 DVD/BD) Where do I connected and assign the white and red connections? Does the Onkyo do a good job of upscaling the Wii picture quality?

Re: Wii and Onkyo 607 Setup?

I've got my audio connections connected to the 'Game' left and right audio terminals. The picture seems pretty good to me, try it through the amp then direct to the TV to see if there's any difference, I didn't bother as I didn't want to have to buy some audio extensions.

Re: Wii and Onkyo 607 Setup?

You don't need to assign the audio as they are connected to the game input so just select Game on the amp
