Wii Error 51300 any good ideas?

Hi,

I've searched the web and tried most of the stuff... My new Wii just doesn't like my wifi... It's WPA2 personal encrypted and my wii just can't join! If I decativate encryption, it automatically joins and is happy. Otherwise nada! There is no MAC filtering and yes the network is also b/g compatible.

I use an apple wireless extreme and express and usually have no problem connecting to it using numerous different laptops and setups (mac, linux, pc).

Any bright ideas? I have also unplugged the router and tried the whole thing a couple of minutes later... Just for my WII I'm not willing to sacrifice security but thought maybe one of you had luck solving this issue.

Thanks,

Philly

PS: Am totally new to Wii and it's games.. Any suggestions? I can download some old classics (mario) right? Is there a new mario (not kart etc.) not 3D worlds (give me headaches) just plain jump around fun from left to right (with improved graphics and Wii modified)...

Official suggestions from Ninty:

WPA2 Security

Let me know if that draws a blank!

Re: Wii Error 51300 any good ideas?

Thanks Fuggler,

Sorry that I wasn't clear; I have run through the nintendo page a couple of times... Not much help! The only thing I haven't done is locked it into channel 1 or 11 ! Would prefer to use automatic since we have numerous wireless networks in the building.
On top of that since I could use the WII with deactivated WPA2 I know it's compatible with my router (apple airport extreme). It just doesn't like my WPA2 encryption.
I was wondering if anyone had been able to pull out a rabbit out of their hat and had the solution. I could muck around and try to manually set it up with it's own ip and figure out the dns settings but would rather not.

I also used a neighbors network which is configured with WEP and also there no luck which leads me to believe that nintendo did a BAAAAAAD job programming the wireless aspect of the console.

Anything you've heard that was successful?

Re: Wii Error 51300 any good ideas?

I used to use my Wii on a WPA network, but not WPA2. My understanding was it supported WPA2 as well though.

These days though, since I have numerous devices in my cabinet that get online, I use a single wireless device connected to a switch, and then all the equipment is wired into the switch. This means I used the USB network adapter with the Wii. Yes, it's a bit redundant as the Wii can go wireless all on its own, but I like only having to manage the wireless settings at a single point should settings change.

Are you using TKIP or AES encryption? I believe the Wii only supports AES with WPA2 although it supports both with WPA.. If you're using TKIP, switch to AES (it's better anyhow).

There are some more resources here if you need more help:
