Recommended USB 1TB Hard Drives for Wii

I am planning on getting a 1TB external USB Hard Drive, and partitioning it 50/50 for PC/Wii use.

Can anyone recommend a drive that works fine on the Wii-I fancy a WD Elements 1TB

Thanks

I use an IDE 500gb drive from hitachi and that works fine. Don't think SATA WD will give you any problems. If your using it to play backups then you will be fine

Looked at the Lacie ones, how long have you been using it-the WD drive I was looking at has a high PSU failure rate

Not long. I've got quite a few of them and the network space drives that I use as NAS. Never really have any problems.

Re: Recommended USB 1TB Hard Drives for Wii

you can't use a whole 1TB partition you need to break it down to 2X500gb partitions. Have a look at this link for compatibility

Re: Recommended USB 1TB Hard Drives for Wii

Bought a new 1TB Seagate Fre Agent (5 year warranty), but figures 1TB would never get filled, so am using the 1TB on the PC and my old Seagate FreeAgent 500GB on the Wii-works perfect.

Enabled the ' never sleep ' option in Disk Manager and now the HD starts up and turns off with the Wii.

Thanks for the replies guys

Re: Recommended USB 1TB Hard Drives for Wii

I use this one:

Seagate | Information Technology | Computer Peripherals | Hard Drives | Portable Hard Disks |ST305004FDD2E1-RK

However it does require power from a mains socket.

Just browsing, but why would you want to connect a hard drive to a Wii?

Allows you to run homebrew / games from the hard drive (so you don't need to swap disks to change games)

Woah, what have I missed!? I didn't know you could connect hard drives to a Wii - and why on Earth would you need a 1TB drive!? Aren't the WiiWare games just a matter of a few megabytes?
