PAL to NTSC Conversion For UK Wii

I purchased a Wii (and several games) from the UK and now live in Canada. I purchased in haste a 52" Sharp TV in Canada which to my amazement does not have both PAL and NTSC inputs. Is there anybody out there who has converted PAL signals to NTSC using a convertor for a Wii? I know that there are both analogue and digital convertors on the market with limitations as to screen size and definition but don't know which one to buy. Any technos who can help?

Have you tried using a component cable for the Wii?

No I haven't tried a component lead on the new TV, I did try a component on the old TV in Canada and that did not work. I will go and try this next week and see.

Thanks.

Doesnt make any difference. I've got mine set to 480p for HDTV, and if a game supports either Hz, it will set it for you. If the game doesn't, it will auto-switch back to PAL interlaced.

I'd recommend installing the Homebrew Channel (Homebrew Channel - WiiBrew) on your Wii and then installing a free application called Gecko http://wiibrew.org/wiki/Gecko_OS. This lets you force the Wii to output either PAL50, PAL60 or NTSC. I think you'll have to do this each time you play a game, but at least it's free
