Post ~Wii NTSC / PAL / TV Help

Hiya AVForums,
-How are you?
-fine.
-kewl

Ok, well heres a story cut short 'n' sweet, basicly i have an NTSC Wii (Not pure NTSC but infact a pure PALwii
, just some how modded by it's previous owner* without the wii actually being opened*) but this Wii shows up black & white on my 1996 Sony TV but shows up in full colour in the living rooms 2004ish Sony TV.

Anyway, i wanna trade in this Wii into my nearest Gamestation store but
what they do is they check the Wii on thier in-store TV (LCD HD SAMSUNG TV, I checked!) to see if everythings working as it should be.

So all i really wanna find out is, will my wii show up black on white or in colour on thier LCD HD SAMSUNG tv?

Regards

Darkmethod

Re: ~Wii NTSC / PAL / TV Help

IMO trying to trade it in is questionable and could be considered fraudulent. Probably not something that should be discussed here.

If you are trying to swap it and get a UK model it will be quite easy to change the console back to PAL and not have the hassle.

Re: ~Wii NTSC / PAL / TV Help

I've got a similar problem that I'd like some advice on. I have a NTSC Wii (not modded) with a PAL TV (Samsung plasma, bought in 2008). On our other TV (Samsung LCD, also PAL), the Wii played fine using the composite video jacks. I've moved it to the bigger TV which does not have composite video input at all. Using a composite-to-Scart adapter, I get a picture (color is good) and sound, but the picture has these wavy vertical lines. They don't block the picture completely so it's playable, but obviously something isn't working right. I've tried the component cables and get no picture at all. Is it possible it's a PAL-NTSC issue? Or is it electrical interference? The TV has the following input possibilities: HDMI, Scart, Composite, Antenna and PC. I've thought about buying a PC-to-composite cable and trying that for the video - any thoughts about whether that would work? The manual for the TV is worthless and doesn't say anything about PAL, NTSC, SECAM compatibility.

Any thoughts would be appreciated!

Sounds like interference to me. Based on your inputs, I'd recommend the official nintendo RGB scart lead.
(or try and borrow one in order to see if it's OK......I'd always go official though).

You were absolutely correct - THANKS! Bought the Nintendo Scart cable, plugged it in and voila, no lines. I debated on the Atomic cable (14.90€) instead of Nintendo (29.90€), but then decided I'd wasted too much € on gas already so I might as well do it right. Had me worried, though, because the Nintendo Scart connector didn't have all the holes filled with wires like the Atomic, but I checked and it was still factory-sealed so I hoped it was supposed to be that way.
