Question Wii connections!

We just set up a projector and connected dvd, karaoke,tv etc to it easily but cant get our Wii to work properly, we are getting a picture but the colour isnt coming through. We have the red/green/blue cables wired into then wall (so they cant be changed) and tried to connect them with a little device with three holes on each side to the red/yellow/white connections on the wii cable. Is there some proper connector that will connect these cables together and give us colour. Sorry bout all the non technical terms used, would appreciate any advice

Re: Wii connections!

The red, green and blue is the video portion of a component cable. The cable that comes with the Wii is a composite one where the red and white is audio and the yellow is video. Sounds like you need to get a Wii component cable, of which I suggest you get the official one. You can't connect a composite cable to a component one and expect to get picture and sound.

Assuming you're going with component and want to get sound through the TV you will also need to connect the component cables red and white phonos for sound unless you're going to output the sound through an amp.

By the way the little device with the three holes on either side is called a coupler. The coupler should be just fine as long as the cables on either side are of the same type.

Lastly component ( red, green and blue ) is better then composite ( yellow ) regards picture quality.

Re: Wii connections!

So i need to get a Wii component cable, thanks for that, but then the only cables we have wired in are are available to connect into the wii from the projector (with a coupler!!) are the red blue and green. You sugggested that we can't connect a composite cable to a component one and expect to get picture and sound, is there any other way of connecting these without having to run extra cables through my newly plastered wall!!??

I dont want to get the sound through the TV as we dont have a tv as well as a projector, we watch the tv through the projector. As i dont have the red and white phonos for sound, but the sound works fine we just dont have colour picture when using the wii.

I really appreciate your advice

Re: Wii connections!

Sorry I forgot you had a projector and not a TV. There is no way to connect a component cable to the red green and blue for video and yellow for audio as they are on different AV channels on the projector. You have to connect the red, green and blue of the component cable in order to get a picture. The component cable also comes with a red and white phono cable for sound which you will need to connect somewhere for sound.

You don't mention what you use to get sound. If it's a separate amp then you can connect the red and white audio cables to that to get sound. Sorry I'm not that familiar with projectors. What I can say is that you need a component cable in order to get picture through the projector. If you had the composite cable wired to the projector and available to sue it would probably be simpler.
