Killer Instinct Gold

Anyone know/read about any plans on this becoming available thru the VC? Just been reminded of it and watched a few Ultra Combo's on Youtube and it's whet my appetite to have a blast again but really don't wanna fork out for a n64 with the game

After having a nosey around I'll answer my own question in case anyone else was interested

Microsoft bought Rare, so it's looking unlikely. Different rumours floating about tho.....some say Rare have said it's upto Nintendo if they wanna release it on VC, others have said there is a version in the pipeline for the 360.

Pity really

It was made by Rare but for Nintendo, so Ninty retain all rights to the N64 version.
It's got nothing to do with MS - if Ninty want to release it they will (whether they themselves want to is a different matter

).

It looks like some of the Rare titles will be heading to Xbox Live Arcade sooner rather than later, so I wouldn't hold your breath for them coming out on the VC.

This is what the General Manager of Microsoft Game Studios said today:

"We do have the rights of the complete Rare catalogue (except GoldenEye 007). We’re studying all the possibilities to bring classic games from the past like Killer Instinct and Perfect Dark,"

Well, it's not the complete catalogue as that would include Donkey Kong Country, Diddy Kong, and Star Fox Adventures.
Interesting that Ninty also chose to retain control of GoldenEye 007.

I wonder why they relinquished Killer Instinct, Banjo Kazooie and Perfect Dark?

Maybe that's why there was a hold up in the GoldenEye release (Nintendo maybe negotiating to bring some titles it doesn't hold to VC in return???

It's all speculation with most Rare titles on the net at the moment .. I'd like to see some kind of deal made as soon as possible .. I enjoyed the killer Instinct games, but i just wish either Nintendo, Rare or Microsoft would be a bit more clear on what's really going on.. I've often thought about getting another N64 so i can enjoy old Rare titles again, because quite frankly Rare haven't exactly shined on the Xbox 360 so far in my opinion !
