Help choosing some VC titles for 1000pts

I have 1000 pionts gratis from the star system. Idont know waht to get, theressjust is soo much to choose from, I v read reviews etc, but would also like a bit of personal input if oyu would. I only have the wwimote nuchuck setup so should I go for just nes games or should I push the boat out and get a GC controller and go for a more recent game.

Stuff that does take my facy at the mo' are Star fox, on the NES front would be SMB2 SMB3 and the Kirby one (I have SMB1, and Wonderboy)

Just some opinons please, cheers

Re: Help choosing some VC titles, recomendations please

Hi.
Best place to look is through the sticky thread (exhaustive but contains a few opinions on what is good or not) as well as the following site:

VC Reviews. <--- good site & easy to navigate. You may not always agree with their scores, but there are plenty of user comments and all the games have accompanying videos of the gameplay so you get a chance to see exactly what you'll be buying .

Re: Help choosing some VC titles, recomendations please

I haven't downloaded many VC titles myself as I do feel they're a touch overpriced.

However out of the games I have purchased, I would say WaveRace is one of my favourites! Water physics are still amazing even now, although it's an N64 game so you would need either a Classic or Gamecube/Wavebird controller. Costs 1000 points but well worth the asking price if you missed it first time around as it's just so different to anything else out there

The full list of VC games can be seen on page one of the sticky thread at the top - which I update every few weeks - for easy access .. I also recommend going on YouTube to see about any game that interests you ...

Zelda link to the past
Zelda Ocarina of time
Super Mario 64
Lylat Wars
Super Mario World
Super Mario Bros 3
Super Metroid

To name a few....assuming you have NEVER played any of the above I would highly recommend Ocarina and Super Mario 64, true epics!!

Thanks mate, Ive never owned any Ninty consoles other than GB color, and DS, so do have quite a bit catching up to do. I really fancy SMB3 because I always remember seeing it on a challange thing on SKY years and years ago and loved the look of it. Ive been playing SMB1 today but cant complete it, never could with my GB color version either and I vowed to beat it before I got any more VC games, but well, you know how it goes.

Re: Help choosing some VC titles, recomendations please

SM64 is actually a lot of game for the points . Many hours of playtime there.

Waverace is great as well as Mariokart 64 but SM64 was the very first title I got on VC.

Re: Help choosing some VC titles, recomendations please

Hopefully will be getting a GC controller today, so Waverace is first on my list. I really want the Starwars Rouge Squadron (something like that) but its not on the list. The Mariokart ones will be a deffinate at some point, just wish I had lots more money

Edit:- Had some sort of blonde moment, of course its not on the VC list its from the GC, dont know why but I keep thinking GC games are on VC as well (even tho' I know they're not)

Re: Help choosing some VC titles, recomendations please

I bought Star Wars Rogue Squadron for the Gamecube which I play on the Wii - from Gamestation - it only cost me £4 - so its worth keeping an eye out , providing you've got a GC controller and memory card there are alot of cheapy Gamecube games around, providing they haven't got the word Mario in it which then ups the premium!! Downloaded on VC last night, Lylat Wars 64 (known as Star Fox I think?) - can't believe I didn't get this game years ago, highly recommended. Will get some Mario platforms next, cheap way of keeping my son happy with new games!!

Yeah, Im gonna' get it (Starwars) from CEX, £4 delivered, how can you get GC games for cheaper than N64 VC games is beyond me, Naughty Ninty.

Got a controller today, not an official one but it feels okay and I got a mem card bundled with it for £9.99 and got Wave race off VC.

Really looking forward to getting Starfox, toss up between the 2 today. Nearly cried when I got Waverace, but gotten sort of used to the controls now and really enjoying it.

I'm dreading my plastic fantastic bill. Got sooo much Wii and 360 stuff in the last month, I hope they forget

Re: Help choosing some VC titles, recomendations please

Nasri

You have to buy official Nintendo(official being no third party software) products which have a 'scratchcard' inside the product. Log onto the Nintendo website and providing you are registered you enter the long code consisting of numbers and letters, this then gives you stars which you then can convert to points (personally, I think it is a long winded process and Nintendo never seem to have in stock their points card!!) which considering it is a virtual system I cannot understand how they can be out of stock. Once you are logged into the Nintendo website and have entered your long winded scratchcard number you click on a box which says 'convert stars to points' - this enables you to buy these virtual points cards. Although to be honest its easier buying the games on the Wii
Hope this sort of helps........

Re: Help choosing some VC titles, recomendations please

Agreed, bit of a pain sometimes regestering, I normally end up not doing stuff straight away, then have about 5 or 6 to at a time, and it takes ages.

But "'owt for nowt" as they say.

Nasri, you normally get 250 star points for a game, and I think 500 for consoles. I swapped 4000 star points, for 1000 Wii points.

Yeah, you get 500 I think for the Wii.

I didnt know about the points until I got the Wii, so I rifled through all my old DS games for them codes and the DS itself. Glad I never chucked it away.

I was actually just thinking today I would love to see Cannon Fodder, but as a full remake, streer your squad with the 'chuck and aim to shoot with the Wiimote. Be Good I think.

I've been hoping Cannon Fodder would make an XBLA appearance, but now you mention the pointer controls, you're right, it would be right at home on the Wii.

If it does release on VC though I think it would more likely be a straight port of the Sega megadrive(or whatever console it was released on) rather than attempt to emulate the Amiga version with pointer support

Oh yes!!!!!! How I would love to see Cannon Fodder I used to spend hours on my Amiga with that game shooting the little pixelated characters and watching them wriggle around after being shot
Just got Mario Bros 3 on VC this week, well recommended, my wife was watching me play it the other day with a bemused look on her face (she just does not get computer games!!) will be getting Marioworld 64 next. Chris S.
