Which Street Fighter to get?

There are 3 versions of Street Fighter available in the SNES section of Wii VC currently:

Street Fighter II: The World Warrior
Street Fighter II Turbo: Hyper Fighting
Super Street Fighter II: The New Challengers

I only ever played the original Street Fighter II on the SNES, so I'm unsure about the differences. Which one of these is the best one to go for?

I don't believe there was ever a version of Street Fighter on the GameCube, so presumably one of the above SNES versions is the most recent Nintendo version available? Or are there plans for a Wii version?

Thanks.

Super Street fighter 2 : New Challengers IMO

Has more characters and the first SF where Ryu and Ken were tweaked to be slightly different in that Ken had the fire Dragon Punch and Ryu had the fire Fireball.

Re: Which Street Fighter to get?

Thanks for that. Will give it a download when I'm up for playing something other than Mario Kart.

Cheers.

Re: Which Street Fighter to get?

Comes down to speed for me. Street Fighter 2 turbo wins hands down. SFII is too slooow. Super SFII isn't much quicker but does have the extra characters.

SFII turbo is the purists choice. If you google for "SFII turbo speed cheat "you can ramp it up even faster as well.

Re: Which Street Fighter to get?

I'd also go for Street Fighter II Turbo: Hyper Fighting.

The others are too slow and Turbo was the one I remember playing on the SNES.

Extra Characters Shixtra Shmareters....my childhood memories are composed of the "standard" lot from SFII so I don't really care about having new characters I've never seen before .....but of course, this works both ways (those who have prev. played the TNC version will probably prefer that).

Re: Which Street Fighter to get?

Another vote from me for Turbo!

Use the speed cheat (I presume it works on the VC version?) and stick the difficulty level on max, then complete the game without losing a round - I think that gave you a special ending if my memory serves properly.

Re: Which Street Fighter to get?

Have just downloaded Streetfighter II turbo - is it just me, or is it almost impossible to do any of the special moves using the classic controller? Have just been trying to get Ryu doing a dragon punch but he won't do as he is told. I'm thinking of unpacking the old SNES and seeing if it's just me being pants

I never could consistently do a dragon punch (more a button masher), but many games I play I seem to do much worse then when I was younger.

Do you think it's the controller at fault or are you just a bit rubbish now? I'm really getting annoyed at SFII!!! Dragon punches and fireballs were easy on the SNES... wish I could use the SNES controller!

Turbo all the way, Super had 4 extra characters that added nothing, was slower and worse still, the sound effects have been grossly watered down.

The bone crunching punch sound has been replaced with what now sounds like a slap delivered by a 10 year old girl whilst the former butch bloke who announces the start of each round has been watered down into some kind of gay American dude who sounds as though he should be hosting Strictly Come Dancing.

Oh, and the music isn't as good as Turbo either. Street Fighter Alpha 2 was also released on SNES which wasn't half bad so you could try that too, it's better than Super but not as good as Turbo.
