Setting up online gaming

Play games online on the PS3, thought it might be fun to have a go on the wii.

How do you set it all up then? My wii is already conected wirelessly to the net so just needs gaming setting up.

Thanks
Paul

Re: Setting up online gaming

If your Wii is already connected then as Pgmabley says you need a game that has online play, such as Mario Kart, and away you go.

Each game has a slightly different way of accessing the online gaming and also different modes of online play so it's impossible to say "do X then Y" to get you going.

However .. .. .. .. the first time you connect ANY Wii game to it's online server it will generate a Friend Code (except MoHH2 which you have to create an account prior to going online) .. .. .. a different 12 digit code for each game you have. To play against specific other people you both have to enter each other's FC for that game into the save file of your game.. .. .. .. the same idea as with the Wii Console (16 digit) codes.

After you have connected, generated your FC, then disconnected you are ready to play online. Sounds fiddly but it only takes about 30 seconds. After that you can then go online again and most games will allow you to choose between playing friends or random opponents.

Re: Setting up online gaming

In my job, I move around a lot so can't get a broadband. I have found a solution and got an Orange Icon 225 Dongle for my dell laptop, which gets me online, now I want to play my wii online, The wii see's the Nintendo USB Connector and thats seems to be working ok, but my internet connection does not seem to be shared with my wii. I have the internet connection sharing turned on in network settings. The Icon 225 appears as a dial up connection. Is there's something i'm failing to do, Orange after asking them appear to have no idea. Does anyone know the solution?

Re: Setting up online gaming

The only games that you can play online have a little blue bubble with Wi-Fi on the cover on the game.
