Mario Kart online question?

I've just hooked up with a friend of mine and swapped codes so that we can race each other however I've got a question for you experienced peeps out there

Is there any way we can just race against each other in a GP format BUT with cpu karts as the other players? We had a quick 1 v 1 GP where my friend set up a room and I joined him but 1 v 1 soon gets boring without others involved. I know I could try and get more friends LOL but any come back on this is much appreciated fellas.

Cheers,

Chach

No you can only race either with friends, or with strangers (whereby you can also race with friends - if you join them in a race). The only way to do a GP with CPUs as the other racers is by playing offline at one of your houses.

Add me from the list in the Friend Codes thread, I'm on most nights

Re: Mario Kart online question?

Hi guys.

I'm knew to the on-line gaming options on mario kart (haven't even taken part in a single race as yet), so I know this is gonna sound a bit stupid, but I'll ask anyway:

When you set up a room to play against your friends only, how exactly do they find it.

Told you the question would sound stupid.

Ps. Now that I know you can't play on-line with a combination of just 1 or 2 of your friends, qith the rest made up from cpu players, I guess I'll have to make some new friends!!! LOL

Re: Mario Kart online question?

Once you've created your lobby your registered friends should simply be able to join it, your Mii will be highlighted for them(if they're connected to the MarioKart Nintendo WFC) with something like "join my game"(can't remember exactly) along with a little alarm type sound to indicate you are joinable.

Hope that helps.

Dude! Come and join in with the thread. There's a handfull of players on at some point most days and they're all helpfull and great fun to race against, I am slightly bias as i set up the thread, but i can be honest and say I think it's good fun for racers of all levels.

Anyway, have fun playing. And all that want to join in the fun, go to the thread in online gaming.

Plug over!

Re: Mario Kart online question?

Hi all, can I use this thread to ask a (noob)question too? Please someone help me before my kids kill each other - when we try to play 2 player online, only one of the controllers (player 2) gets to pick their mii name to play. The other one (like when its only one player playing online) just says "Player" and won't let you change. You can imagine the arguments, when they both HAVE to have their own names playing. Are we doing something wrong? Thanks if you can avert a full blown war in our house!

Unfortunately I think it's full blown war time.

When you load Mario Kart you then have to choose which profile to play the game on. For example I have profile "Amph" which I usedwhen playing. I set up a different profile for my wife so if she plays on her own, she uses her profile.

When you play two player, only the person who's profile you are on can pick their Mii.

So If my wife and I both play against each other/computer/online and we chose my profile (amph) at start menu we can only use my Mii.

It's a nuisance I know and can imagine with kids it would be a nightmare. I guess either they live with it or neither get to use their Mii.

Basically you can only use the Mii that the profile is set up with. Even if you set up a 2nd profile with other childs Mii, you cannot use both Mii's at same time. Only the Mii for the profile you chose from start menu.

Hope that makes sense and helps.

Re: Mario Kart online question?

Uh-oh.

Thanks for the explanation, Amph. Looks like the solution would be so neither of them could play the mii. How would I set it up so they both are "Player"? Thanks for this - could save my life

My suggestion would be to set up another profile with a name that wont give preference to either kids. You do this from the first menu when the game has loaded. I believe it's the screen where you will see your kids Mii's. You should be able to set up to 4 profiles.

On this screen ( I think), you can select an option in one of the corners of the screen that allows you to set up a new "license" or what I've been calling a profile. Do this with t name tat suits all. Like you say "player" might be a good option. Can't check it right now as my other half is watching TV. If I'm wrong let me know (on here or send me a PM) and I'll check when I get chance next.

Hope it all goes well!

Player? Did you download the save file from the internet that has all the stuff unlocked?

When I play with the kids on their Wii they use their profile and I play as a random Mii from their Mii parade (I have my own profile on my Wii!). Both Mii's we select have the names that we gave them in the Mii channel so .. .. .. .. my suggestion would be to create two Miis, both with the same name, in the Mii channel that you can then use for online gaming.
