Mario Tennis Remake On Wii ( New Play Control Series

I couldn't find an existing thread on this so I figured I would start a new one. Whilst it's not the sequel a lot of people were hoping for it's better then nothing. Apparently it uses the Wii Tennis control system but also allows you to use the nunchuk for movement.

New features for Pikmin, Mario Tennis Wii-makes revealed - Joystiq

Pikmin, Mario Tennis Wii Remakes Get New Features - Shacknews - PC Games, PlayStation, Xbox 360 and Wii video game news, previews and downloads

There is also a Pikmin remake ( I've posted these details in the Pikmin thread ) with new controls and a new Donkey Kong:Jungle Beat remake which is already out in Japan. Mario Tennis and Pikmin are supposed to be out in the US on the 9th of March.

I've never played the Gameboy version but I do own the Gamecube one and it's great. If they do the Wii version justice regards the new controls I'll buy that.

Haha, I used to love the gamecube version of Mario Tennis, knocking those little crocs(or whatever they were) off the net to attack your opponent just never got old(for me at least). If they can get the controls close or on par with Wii Sports Tennis then it could be a classic remake!

Morning! Has anybody picked a copy of this up yet? I quite fancy it, having enjoyed / broken a controller on the the Gamecube version. If the new controls have been well implemented it should be a cracker.

Well my 2 boys and i love it! Much better than wii sports tennis as far as we're concerned.

However as a single player game the wii controls don't quite seem to have enough finesse or speed but in 2 player its great as you both have the same limitations.

Re: Mario Tennis Remake On Wii ( New Play Control Series

Well the official Nintendo magazine's review is out in this month's mag (April issue) and they have given MPT just 77% saying: "Attractive tennis with a Mario twist but hobbled by hard-to-aim motion controls".

They mainly complained that the controls weren't precise enough and that it was very tough to learn.

Played on it for 10 mins today and its terrible.

Literally all you do is wave the remote around in no particular direction when the ball is near you and your character hits the ball back.

I'd say its great for under 5s and their parents to play on.

Re: Mario Tennis Remake On Wii ( New Play Control Series

I was listening to the latest episode of IGN's Nintendo Voice Chat podcast today and they were saying the remote inputs were inconsistent. They have polished and touched up the game in other respects but with the controls being flawed it's best to give it a miss. It's too bad as I was really looking forward to it too. I'm going to wait for EA's Grand Slam Tennis which uses Wii MotionPlus and apparently looks a lot more promising.
