Wii Sports Resort and Wii Motion Plus Accessory (stock/preorder alert thread).

Now available for pre-order at Game. Cue shortages and vastly inflated prices on ebay etc.

Re: Wii Sports Resort and Wii Motion Plus Accessory

They have the date wrong for a start. According to what Reggie said at the Nintendo press conference at E3 the game and MotionPlus accessory won't be out until next Spring. I think Q2 2009 is probably more realistic then Q4 2008. It seems strange that GAME has it up for preorder this early. No doubt there will be stock shortages as usual so it may not be a bad idea preordering so soon I guess.

I wouldn't hold your breath for this coming out anytime soon, last I read was that Nintendo had delayed it yet again so my guess is maybe it will come out some time near Christmas.

I thought EA let it slip that it was going to be available when Tiger Woods 2010 and the sports title come out in the summer? Might be wrong though....sure I saw something on IGN

Well it's funny you should mention TW 10, I've just put up a new thread with a link to a preview of the game. They mention that it relies on the motion-plus system so I'm guessing EA won't release it before Nintendo release the motion-plus.

From what I have heard it doesn't rely on it but does make use of it if you have the MotionPlus attachment. The game should also work with normal controls like the previous Tiger Woods game.

Yes, sorry that's what I meant. I was trying to say that I would've thought that EA would want to push the advertising of this game as making use of the new motion plus as much as possible as I would think this will be a good marketing strategy for them. So based on this, that's why I can't see them releasing it before motion plus actually comes out.

UPDATE: I was just browsing Gamespot and found this article http://uk.gamespot.com/news/6207661....dlines;title;3 saying that Wii Sports Resort will be released along with the motion plus attachment in July. So at least now we have some kind of release date to look forward to!

Yes that confirms what i have read.

Nintendo President Satoru Iwata announced that “Wii Sports Resort” will be available in Japan in June. And despite declining Wii sales in Japan, no price drop is planned.

During a news conference in Tokyo, Nintendo president Satoru Iwata revealed that “Wii Sports Resort” will be available in Japan in June. Iwata was discussing how to revitalize Wii sales in Japan.

ABS-CBN News reported that industry figures show Wii sales went down almost two-thirds from last year and that the PS3 outsold Nintendo’s console for the first time in 16 months.

However, Iwata maintained that a price drop would not be the solution: “A price cut in a difficult economy cannot really excite the market and drive up sales. As of now I really don’t think that a price cut is a good option for us.”
Kotaku cites KBC analyst Hiroshi Kamide as saying the game will be available “overseas” in July.

Just another update on the motion plus peripheral, Nintendo has confirmed that it won't be backwards compatible with older Wii games although I suppose that was fairly obvious.

Ripoff in general or specifically in GAME ? The MSRP doesn't seem to have been confirmed as GAME has it at £29.99 and Play has it at £34.99. Regardless if this represents the final pricing that is due to the MSRP set by Nintendo.

Re: Wii Sports Resort and Wii Motion Plus Accessory (stock/preorder alert thread).

i find the wii motion plus a rip off in general

espcially as most households have 1+ controls and paying over £100 for a stupid addon for each control is a bit much.

dont get me wrong its a great idea but the price is too high for what it does

Re: Wii Sports Resort and Wii Motion Plus Accessory (stock/preorder alert thread).

I'm not sure where you get the figure of £100 from unless you mean the total it would cost to get the add on for 4 remotes say. I would imagine it will be priced at around £24.99 for the motion plus on it's own as this is the same price as the Wii remote and the classic controller. I have two remotes so I will probably buy the Wii Sports Resort bundle (which will probably be around £39.99 I think) and then a separate motion plus for my second remote, so I'm expecting to pay a total of about £65 which is fine seeing as it's a one-off upgrade, in fact it's cheaper than Wii Fit which I never use at all.

ye exactly my point you can get a whole new controller for that price, than paying 25 pound just for an addon

Re: Wii Sports Resort and Wii Motion Plus Accessory (stock/preorder alert thread).

Well to be honest it is a little naive to expect Nintendo to make the motion-plus any cheaper than the actual cost of the Wii remote itself. Most games companies aren't known for their generosity towards their customers and I'm guessing that seeing as they're already going to be bundling the add-on with WSR, then they're going to be making their money from the hardware rather than the software. In the same way that they jacked up the price of Wii Fit in order to make all the money from the hardware element of the package. £24.99 may seem like a high price but once you've paid it, that's it! You'll then be able to use it with all the new motion-plus enhanced games that will come out. I don't see it any different to having to fork out £39.99 for a new PS3 controller (now that is extortionate!) or all the add-on's you can get for the 360 etc. You don't have to buy it but if you're wanting to take advantage of the new improved accuracy/functionality it will provide for say sports games then I think it'll be worth every penny.

Re: Wii Sports Resort and Wii Motion Plus Accessory (stock/preorder alert thread).

Another interesting development in the Motion Plus' forthcoming release, EA are going to be releasing it as part of a bundle for the TW10 and Grand Slam Tennis games Gaming - News - EA games to bundle Wii MotionPlus - Digital Spy
The price is going to be £49.99 and I've just looked on Game's website and they have WSR with Motion Plus for £44.99 (release date being displayed as 24th July). In that article it also says that in the US, the price of the standalone Motion Plus will be $19.99. So, this to me suggests that we can expect to pay around £19.99 for the Motion Plus on its own (possibly £14.99??). If this pricing is accurate then that sounds pretty good to me, I'm interested in both of the EA Sports games as well as WSR obviously so I'll be able to get my hands on the Motion Plus for both of my remotes and get the new games at the same time. As far as release dates are concerned, I would've thought EA would want to get the tennis game out to coincide with this year's Wimbledon tournament and I think TW10 will probably come out around September/October as it has done most years.

More news on this; Ubisoft are releasing Red Steel 2 for Wii MotionPlus users only - Red Steel 2 Wii MotionPlus only!
Is this a bit of a gamble I wonder, or are Nintendo 'helping them out' with this?

Re: Wii Sports Resort and Wii Motion Plus Accessory (stock/preorder alert thread).

Well two more sports have been named for the forthcoming Wii Sports Resort (see here Gaming - News - New 'Wii Sports Resort' games revealed - Digital Spy ). They are table tennis and golf. As the article says, both of these have featured on previous Nintendo titles but I assume this time they'll be a lot different seeing as they will have motion plus support. Not long to wait now, only another couple of months lol

Re: Wii Sports Resort and Wii Motion Plus Accessory (stock/preorder alert thread).

No more news on any non-Nintendo Wii motionplus games then, only 3 games have been mentioned so far.

I read that games developers were 'struggling' to get to grips with the new technology. This makes sense if you think about it, as half of the Wii games we've seen don't even make good use of the current Wii remote.

Cheapest I found was Lovefilm shop at £15.93
I don't know how reliable they are at meeting release dates though.

Quidco too - although mine hasn't tracked yet. Could be 5% though.

I also pre-ordered Wii Sports Resort from them too as they were equal to the cheapest.
